The 3M product video is excellent.
My experience is solely that of opaque, waterborne lacquer in a garage shop environment where the goal is a piano finish on wood. This is an ambitious goal, especially when having to paint vertical surfaces: the paint levels best at the very point that it sags. My PPS is used with a HVLP touchup gun.
Any reasonable steps to facilitate the paint's application are welcomed, if not essential for optimal results. The PPS is touted for its ease of cleaning; however, I reuse the parts (and resent the discarding of plastic to landfills).

Why the PPS?
1)A closed system, i.e., a sealed container (dripless), with the ability to spray from any gun position.
2)The built-in filter serves, in my usage, as a second step at paint filtering.
3)The container is easily removed from the gun and set on a bench.

Does the PPS make for a better painted product? No, only indirectly. The outcome remains a function of the painter's skill.
Helpful Hint: For maximal PPS effectiveness every point of connection is best kept clean and dry. Even slight contamination of contacting surfaces can cause an air leak, diminishing the utility of the system.
