4210 Porter-Cable 12'' Dovetail Jig

This well-built, straightforward jig allows for cutting half-blind, rabbeted half-blind, and sliding dovetails. Its patented alignment lines and router bit depth stop improve accuracy and make setup quick and easy, while heavy duty cam-type clamps with sandpaper-backed locking bars hold the workpiece firmly in place. The jig accommodates stock from 1/4" to 1-1/8" thick and includes a 1/2" shank, carbide-tipped dovetail bit. Additional templates, sold separately, are available to create through dovetails, box joints and miniature dovetails (see More Info for details).

This jig allows me to make half-blind dovetails as if I knew what I was doing! Take the time to understand the jig perhaps an hour of trials and you are ready to go. I have already built a blanket chest and several kitchen cabinet pull-out drawers. Needless to say, my wife appreciates my purchase!

2) Submitted by Brian, from Rochester, IN on 6/12/2009 Customer Rating: Would not buy the 4210 Model again, although it is well made and easy to use, it does not include the through dovetail joint template as the 4212 does. For roughly $40 more you can save yourself the headache of buying an $80-90 template separately. The 4210 does a good job, it takes some time to adjust to get your joints just right but once you get the hang of it things move right along. I like it and continue to use it but wish I had been informed that the template cost was so high apart from the jig assembly.
