This bit is excellent. I just built a display case using only pocket screws for the carcass and it came out great, even the window casings. beautiful smooth drill bit, nice cut. I would highly recommend this pocket screw drill bit. Its always nice to have an extra one too!

This bit is exactly like the one I got with my set. Anyone who has used the Kreg pocket hole jig already knows how well it works and if you have not , you don't know what you are missing. Good value.

I have used the Kreg pocket screw system for about 10 years and lots of work with several different applications. I originally bought 2 drill bits that have lasted this long. I have good reason to be very pleased with the quality and reliability of the product. I had to replace them because a friend borrowed one and broke the extension tip off by misuse. All the ones I have had have had the 1/2" pilot extension which properly set to the depth requirements has worked fine.

The replacement bit is identical to the one I got with the orginal Kreg kit. I'm quite satisfied with it and it's performance.

I was very disappointed in this replacement step drill bit. On every other one I have ever owned the extended part of the drill (the step part) was at least an inch long and usually longer than that. This one only has a 1/2 inch pilot extension. That might be OK for softwoods but is bound to cause cracking and splitting in hardwoods. This means I will have to drill the pilot hole first to get the pilot hole depth and then use the step drill to get the shoulder.

The 1/2" long x 1/8" dia. pilot extension is too short (agree it needs to be longer)! I experienced the same problems and disappointments. This is the first Step Drill Bit I have owned and imagined a better performance.
