Great bit. The only thing I would change is to make it slightly taller so the slats are bigger or go to Two slats per pass. I think a 3hp router will push it with no problem.

Only knocked this down a star for the instructions, and the video missed some biggies. To start with, this is a LARGE bit, needed to make a special fence and adjustable front fence to keep the work against the bit. I run this thing at about 12,000 rpm with a Freud 3000 router. Takes 3 passes, 1/8" the first pass and 1/16" for each of the 2nd and 3rd. The video says to start with 3" stock but I found it works better with 2-13/16" stock and bit height set just to the top of the stock. You want the top louver fully rounded with little or no bead at the top. That will leave a 3/16" flat area at the bottom. I used 1/2" MDF which left it 5/16" thickat the bottom louver. Then I cut a 5/16" x 3/16" rabbet along the top louver to assemble the panels. Overall, I was very happy with the bit, once I figured out what all was needed to effectively use it.
