Take the frustration out of frame joints with this convenient clamp. Spring-loaded jaws transfer clamping pressure directly to the joint. The large ergonomic knob easily tightens jaws onto frames 5/8'' to 2-7/8'' wide. Back jaws adjust up to 1° to ensure a perfect fit if joint is slightly out of square. Open design allows easy access to outside corners and back surface for simple mechanical fastening. Swiveling Base (sold separately) features a matching hole pattern to easily mount the clamp, elevate your work and gain improved work angles for access to outside frame edges.

I have done framing for about thirty years. I have used a number of different clamp systems marketed by a number of different tool manufacturers, some of which were expensive. None of them are near as good as your Miter Tight Picture Frame Clamp. This is because as the box says, the clamp applies pressure directly to the joint and you can adjust the angle of the clamp. I only wish you would come out with a larger version that would accept up to 5”or 6” frame width.
PS.
Because I live in eastern PA I get my Rockler fix by shopping often when my work takes me to Indianapolis.

Editor's Note: As of June 2010 the manufacturer has beefed up the design on the gearing to address the issue descibed in the following review.

While the concept and design of this product is very good, the decision to mold plastic bevel gears over the drive shaft and nut was a bad one. The resulting wall stock of the bevel gears are much too thin and weak. I was just going through a dry run and snapped the gear in half. I didn't even get one miter glued.
I am a mold maker so I will be making new gears out of steel. I'm sure this fix will bring my rating from poor to excellent. So unless you are able to make new gears or until the manufacturer addresses this issue I would not recommend this product.

This brings together a great corner and if I did a lot of framing I would add 3 more to be able to do a glue up 4 times as fast.

This review applies to the newly-improved Miter Tight Clamp. Previous reviews may be ignored, as the comments no longer apply. This is a totally new device in terms of strength and reliability.
I purchased, used and returned two of the “early” models and was amazed that no one had come up with this idea before. As soon as you begin compressing the mitered joint you see the value of the design, compressing the mating surfaces to close the miter perfectly.
Framers may then drill the joint for a screw, drive in staples or corrugated fasteners. Of course, most people will simply glue the joint, then use the Miter Tight Clamp to hold it in place.
While the name of the device is Miter Tight Picture Frame Clamp, I show in the attached photos how I used it to make a door with a Plexiglass insert. The tool is very versatile.
If you, like me, busted your old Miter Tight Clamp with brute force, I feel your pain. However, don’t be afraid to try this new and improved version. I give it five stars.
PS: If you have an old, broken Miter Tight Picture Frame Clamp call the Rockler folks, they will be happy to replace it for you.

This clamp is great and makes gluing miters really easy.

"I only get to visit the Pittsburgh store once a year so I make sure to make my visit count. The staff there is always helpful and very patient as I zip from aisle to aisle like a child in a toy store."
