Control dust collection right at the source with this unique blast gate. It attaches directly to 4" dust ports on your power tools and features a rubber fitting that not only guarantees a tight connection, but also is flexible enough to accommodate slight variations in the size and shape of the port. The other end is sized to accept standard 4" hose. Patent pending.

So far so good. I attached it to a Y intake on my new Oneida collector, and it seems to be doing the job. I like Rockler innovation.

I concur with the sawdust in the corners, but don't find it much of a problem. I have two of these gates on the 4" Y intake of my "rolling" dust collector. As the hoses are removable as I shift from machine to machine I find it easy to clear the sawdust with a bit of bent wire. It also helps to orient the gates upside down.

I too have had a problem with the glue joint of the gate, but easily reglued it. This time the break was at the connection of the "tube" to the gate on the rubber joint side, I can't reliably reglue that as the rubber joint is in the way.

I'm so upset at the problem that I've just ordered two more gates $6.95 each with my catalog code, and paid for priority shipment. One replacement and one for backup. My alternative, in my setup, is to use short sections of hose to attach a blast gate to the Y intake on my collector, a pain in the butt when changing inputs.

I give 4 stars instead of 5 only because of the breakage problem, the sawdust in the corners is trivial even when it does block full closure the leakage is minimal. As to the breakage, I spend more on beer every day than the discounted price of a new gate not including shipping, which is why I bought a backup.

They continually collect sawdust in the corners preventing the gate from closing, it is hard to get it out, Also had 2 of them come apart completely. I have used the system for a couple of years and the dust jams are what really ruined them for us.

We have 7 of these gates in our shop. Four of them have plugged multiple times. When chips/sawdust get packed into the corners it causes significant vacuum lose. Clearing is difficult and time consuming and generally requires the gate to be removed from the line or the equipment. Between compressed air, dental instruments and banging we got them cleared but were not happy knowing we would have to do it again. To provide an easier and quicker solution, I drilled 3/16" holes in each of the corners so a shot of compressed air now blast the blast gate clear in a few seconds without even having to remove them. I stick a piece of tape over the holes so as not to lose any vacuum but maybe it would work better just to leave them open as an exit hole for the debris. Hope this helps.

Two 3/8" dia. holes drilled in the two corners opposite the handle completely eliminate jamming. The area opened for leakage is negligible compared to the 4" diameter hose, so I ignore it. I have these on 6 machines.

This is a great idea. I bought this for my bandsaw, which I have trouble putting a 4-in hose on. The dust port is cast iron and quick connect fittings have to be forced on to barely stay on, or a 6-in jump from port to coupling was used. The rubber grommet fit right on.
