The large end of this connector fits into Schedule 20 PVC, while the smaller end attaches to any 4" dust hose. The PVC connection requires silicone adhesive and the hose can be fixed with a metal clamp (neither are included). Schedule 20 (PVC sewer pipe) is thin walled PVC pipe commonly found at home centers. Fitting is made from ABS plastic.

Note regarding Schedule 20 PVC: The term "Schedule 20" merely refers to the wall thickness of the pipe. When inquiring at your local sources, it is best to ask for thin wall sewer/drainage pipe (rather than asking for "Schedule 20"). It may be difficult to find this pipe via online sources as it is typically sold in 10 ft. lengths.

I bought these hoping they would help me with a 6" to 4" reducer on my dust collection system. They weren't made for that but for the 4" schedule 20 pipe that would insert into the reducer. However, by experimenting, I was able to get them to fit because of the flange in the middle of the connector. So far, I've just managed to stuff that into the reducer and it holds fine without any sealing. We'll see how it holds up.

Bought my 4" schedule 20 at Lowes in Brenham, TX. I am sure it is available in any Lowes and probably Home Depot. Connector works as advertised - just make sure you get silicone sealer/adhesive to secure it with. I also put a could of small screws at each joint for extra strength.

The fit is a bit loose in the PVC side, but easily sealed with caulk and electrical tape.

Has anyone ever heard of 4" schedule 20 pipe? Any listings I find for schedule 20 are 8" diameter and larger. This would be a nice adapter if you could actually find the pipe it connects to.

Editor's note: Yes, schedule 20 pvc pipe is commonly available at many building supply and home centers. It is the thin wall all white pvc pipe normally sold in 10 foot lengths which is commonly used as drain and sewer pipe. Don't mistake it for the schedule 40 pipe though (which is a thick wall pvc pipe used for inside house plumbing).

I just happened upon a 10' length at TSC (Tractor Supply Company). Once I found the PVC, it fit perfectly. I tried PVC cement on one side and DAP silicone caulk on the other side (I had 2 connectors). I figured that if I ever wanted to shrink the length, I could easily do that by removing the caulk.

The pipe you are looking for is ASTM D-2729 and should be marked as such. I got mine at Tractor Supply Co  You'll find that some of the fittings you pick up at Lowes/HD will list multiple specs on them and 2729 is sometimes one of them, as they are almost all interchangeable. As far as the fitting, it works well but is a bit loose on the PVC side - as others have stated. Instead of pipe cement I used whatever bathroom/kitchen silicone I had laying around an applied liberally. It's not going anywhere.

Please help identify an online source for the Schedule 20 PVC pipe. None of my local Home Depot, Lowes, or plumbing supply stores carry it. Countless Google searches have come back with nothing but articles debating PVC vs Metal ducting. I can't wait to use these adapters, but I can't find the pipe!! It may be common in other parts of the country, but not here...

Editor's note: You won't find this pipe at on-line sources as it is typically sold in 10 ft lengths. When inquiring at your local sources it's best to ask for thin wall sewer/ drainage pipe, rather than as 'Schedule 20' as they may not be understanding what your needing. This is the same type of pipe as the pipe perforated with holes that is used for outdoor drainage systems. The perforated pipe is used surrounded by crush rock for the collection or dispersion areas; the solid version is then used for the transmission of water to or from the drain fields. The designation of 'schedule 20' is merely a description of the wall thickness of the pipe.
