Banksia Pods

Used by Woodturners. Unique for their numerous openings and voids (always turn toward center). Interior figuring once turned is similar to Bird's Eye. Color and texture similar to Walnut Burl. Easy to turn or cut. Relatively hard towards center of pod and will take detail nicely. This item is the seed pod from the Banksia tree (an evergreen tree which grows in Australia).

3) Submitted by Tom Bacon, from Savannah , GA on 4/17/2011 Customer Rating: I bought 25 pods, 10 "jumbo" and 15 regular. I found only 4 that were actually "jumbo" one of which has a defect in it that makes it only have 1 1/2 of turnable pod. Out of the rest the quality was poor with many defects that cut the usable pod in half for most of them. I have found 4 that I am really happy with, I won't buy them again.
