Curly Cherry Lumber

Most of this gorgeous curly cherry falls into the best available FAS lumber grade. And while the amount of figure varies slightly from board to board, it all impresses with interesting patterns throughout. Similar to standard cherry, curly cherry is a popular choice for cabinetry, but its uses also extend into specialty high-end projects like musical instruments, boat or car interiors, decorative turnery, toys, and carving.

1) Submitted by Harry & Harry , from Salt Lake City, UT on 2/21/2010 Customer Rating: I had previously ordered some curly cherry lumber to make a few picture frames. One of these frames I made for a neighbor, a 11X14 and finished with tung oil. It was a really good looking frame and the tung oil brought the curly grain out very well. A few days later they asked me could I make 38 more curly cherry picture frames for them in different sizes. I think this speaks very well for the quality of Rockler curly cherry lumber. As usual, with any Rockler product you will not be dissapointed.

2) Submitted by Tim Mullican, from Mitchell, SD on 4/13/2010 Customer Rating: I ordered two pieces of curly cherry lumber, and found that about 50% of the wood was light colored sapwood. The reddish heartwood was mostly on one side and there was about an inch of sapwood on both sides. The figure was very good, but not consistent along the entire length of the boards. All in all, still a good value considering the rarity of curly cherry. Be prepared to order about 50% more than you need if you just want the darker heartwood.
