To choose an aluminum plate, find your router in one of the four groups below. If your router is not listed, choose one of two non-drilled blank plates: the Standard Opening (3-1/4'' bit opening), or the Large Opening (3-11/16'' bit opening), and drill custom mounting holes.

1) Submitted by Kevin, from Franklin, NH on 6/17/2012 Customer Rating: I bought this without the fence so I can't comment on the fence itself, but for the guy with the 1 star review the fence is supposed to come with some 3/8" bolts for it which would work fine. You can also use 5/16" t-slot bolts, which is what I did. How you could end up having to use a wrench under the table is beyond me. A lot of people seem to complain about it being difficult to "square up" router table fences. Square it to what? I guess they mean parallel to the miter track. Most of the time you don't need it to be. In fact on my old router table my fence actually had a fixed pivot point at one end and moved in an arc. When I need to rout something on the end grain of a narrow piece I prefer using a sled that rides against the fence instead of a miter slot. So that's how important making it parallel is, not at all. With that said, I would highly recommend making your own fence and just getting the bare table though since this fence doesn't look to be anything special. It's not worth $150. You can make your own much better fence or buy cheaper pre-made ones if you don't want to do that. You're going to want a much taller fence than this one eventually. I have no complaints about the table other than to say the manual says the locking nuts for the leveling screws are 7/16" but mine are actually 10mm.

3) Submitted by Rich Johnson, from St Louis, MO on 3/2/2012 Customer Rating: Love the table but there is not any hardware available to fit the slots for a fence. The bottom of the table has a 1/2 inch cut for the bolt head but when you use that type of head to fit in the slot the shaft is bigger than the slot it needs to go through to hold down your fence. Each time I tighten my fence I have to hold the bottom part of the screw that is on the under side of the table with a wrench to keep it from slipping.

The fence that comes with the Bench Dog Cast Iron Router table provides little squaring function. Without a properly squared fence it is useless. But I love the table.
