With a sleek design and integrated soft-closing action, these Salice® hinges set a new standard for aesthetics and technology in concealed hinges. Unlike other soft-close models, the decelerating system is built directly into the hinge and stays out of sight under an attractive, integral cap. Unprecedented three-way cam adjustability allows for simple and precise door alignment. No add-on parts, so installation is a breeze and the adjustment screws stay unobstructed. Self-lubricating, with a full 110°
opening capacity. Bright nickel-plated steel construction. Available to accommodate a variety of overlays for
face-frame cabinets (see options below).

- Decelerating system is built directly into the hinge and stays out of sight
- Three-way cam adjustability

Note: The included spacer applies to situations where drilling a 13.5 mm cup hole risks boring through the face of the door (e.g. if the door's thickness is reduced by a profiled edge). It adds 1.2 mm of space ''above'' the surface of the door, allowing for a shallower cup hole while maintaining proper hinge function.

Here's something to consider when selecting face frame hinges...
These hinges are not for use on Eurostyle Cabinets, they are for use on your face frame cabinets only.

Overlay
Applications
Use an overlay hinge if the door overlays the face frame completely, with a rabbet. It can be predetermined or variable. If it is variable, you'll be able to mount it anywhere on the widthe of the face frame and determine how much of the frame will be visible.
Inset Applications
Use an inset hinge if the door is completely flush with the face frame. |
|
Self-closing hinges are an ideal for cabinets. The built-in spring pulls the door closed and holds it in a closed position, eliminating the need for catches.
Soft-closing hinges have an adjustable action that, when your door is pushed closed, automatically takes over and brings your door to a whisper-soft close.
Free-swing hinges are most often used in furniture applications, rather than cabinet applications. |
|
| Use
the chart to determine how many hinges you'll need for the height and weight
of your door.
A door
that is 43'' high and weighs 14 lbs. requires three hinges. If your door
is only 24'' high but weighs 14 lbs., go with three hinges for maximum
support and stability.
Use
on 5/8'' - 3/4'' doors unless otherwise noted. |

The trick with these hinges is that 13.5 MM is insufficient depth for the socket. If you increase the socket depth to 14.5 - 15 MM the hinge will close your door fully. The hinge appears to displace air/fluid into the socket assemble where the plastic cap is. If the socket hole is not deep enough the hinge cannot properly displace for the shot absorbing action. This is the first time I have used these hinges, but I had read the reviews so I carefully examined what was happening prior to installing the doors. Now what I do is drill to 14.5 MM install the hinge to the door and make the hinge go through a close cycle on the bench. If the hinge pulls closed past the 90 degree (closed point I am ready for installation. If it does not, I remove the hinge and reset my drill press to increase the pocket depth, only need to do this check on first hinge, once set up and you ensure you do the full stroke, installation and operation are a breeze

The Silentia hinges worked well, and the soft-close feature was a big hit with the client. The vertical adjustment sometimes stuck a little bit, and I had to bore the holes in the doors a little deeper than I do normally to allow the soft-close function to work properly. There was no danger of boring through the door, though, and they worked great once they were deep enough. I'll probably be using them again for my next client.

Product rated (Good) but has an annoying drawback. When the hinged door is opened past the 90 degree point, the hinges flings the door to its optimal opening range of approximately 105 degrees. If the door is located next to a fixed object(wall, opened dishwasher), the door strikes the object which in turn can damage the door and object it strikes. I would not advise the use of this hinge under these conditions.

I'm not a professional cabinet maker, but have made several cabniets, entertainment centers, etc. requiring the European style hinges. I have always used Blum with excellent results. Tried the first application with poor results. It appeared that there wasn't adequate spring tension to propoerly close the door and could not align. So I tried a second set paying extremely careful attention to the initial alignmeent and set up, same results, door would not close properly and run out of adjustment. I will go back to Blum in the future.

As an experienced cabinet maker, I have been using the European style hinge for years. For a recent up-scale cabinet project I decided to try the higher priced Soft-Closing feature of the Salice face frame ½” overlay hinge. Unfortunately when I installed the doors, they would not completely close without assistance. I checked everything. The styles were square, the hinge was correctly mounted. Finally I replaced them with less expensive hinge that I had in stock, fortunately the mounting holes were exactly the same, and the door closed perfectly. I thought about returning them to Rockler but decided to try them again but bevel the edge of the style back 3 degrees. Better, but no star. The door still will not close completely on its own. One thing for sure the claim of “no noise, no effort” is accurate.

What's said in another review is absolutely right, the first time after install the door couldn't close at all. Then I took the door off and examine it closely and found out there's a slight raise when the hinge is in closed position, re-drill the socket and it worked like a charm. There are two reasons that I took one star off his hinge:
1. the user manual came with the hinge does not match what's on the website, the distance from door edge to socket shows 4mm on the web but 2.5mm on the manual.
2. adjustment is pretty limited, and with door installed the adjustment screw gets hard to turn. And again the manual that came with it doesn't even have the right picture of the hinge.
This is my first attempt to DIY a door and I definitely will give it another try since now I know the trick to install it right.

These hinges are no good. I should not have to drill deeper sockets or putz with a hinge to get it to close. I bought what is advertised as a standard Euro hinge, a standard depth socket should work. If not there should be large lettering on the package to say so. I have doors with edge trim and if I drill any deeper I will go throught the edge profile so these hinges have cost me time and money.
