Terrific product, it reaches every corner of my little shop {1 Stall Garage} and then re compresses with ease. I bought the 3' one wish I had gone the extra and got the 4' just in case I upgrade shops someday.

It is important to use the Dust Right Expandable Hose with their Quick Release Fittings. Together they provide a secure and adaptable hose connection. I elected to use this system in my new shop about 850 sq ft. It works superbly. I would higly recommend this product.

I bought the 3'-21' model, and it works great. I love not having the regular 4" hose strung out on the floor anymore. One suggestion for those contemplating-buy longer than you think you need. This thing is like a big slinky and it has a fair amount of recoil. Not a big deal for regular clean-up, but when attached to a tool it will pull at it a bit. Luckily I only needed it to stretch about 12'.

I've had several lengths of the standard 4" dust hose for a while and they are a pain to move and heavy. I tried the 2.5" version on my vacuum and liked it. Decided to try 4" on my table saw and jointer. The hose works great with the bridge clamps. No loops laying on floor getting in the way.

I've been working on my dust collection system for well over two decades. With the addition of a 21' Dust Right Hose! I am finally satisfied. My dust collection system is based on a circa 1990 3/4 HP Delta 50-179 two-stage collector with a 35 gallon barrel, converted to a Thien cyclone/separator. The top white bump in the photo was originally the input port! this has been changed to a tangential input visible on the right side of the blue barrel. The output, visible on the top of the barrel, originally went to a cloth bag, which I'm sure filtered any dust particles larger than 1/8 inch. Because of the Thien separator, the output is now quite clean and I have no qualms about feeding it directly to the outside. We live in the middle of 7 acres. I originally moved the collector from one machine to another, but thanks to the Rockler hose, the collector is now stationary, and the hose extends to any of the machines in my 16 by 24 shop. When I'm finished using the collector, I hang the end of the hose on a bracket on the barrel and kick the hose into a compact mass at its base.

I just got a 2 hp dust collector, and really didn't want to run hose all around my small workshop, so I tried this hose - I'm very pleased - it works just as advertised, and really is very convenient. I would recommend.

I have permanently mounted several feet of the Dust Right Expandable Hose from various locations in my shop, through the wall to my dust collector. I also attach different tools to the gates with the same convenient hose that compresses when not in use. This product is excellent!

I am new to wood working and just recently got a dust collector. I ordered this hose and have used it a ton. I love how it compresses back after use. I have a 10 ft. by 20 ft. shop, and I love how I can move it from machine to machine and then put it up when done.

I had been using the dust right system with 20 ft of 4 inch hose bought locally. I hate to say that I wasted $45 on that other hose, but it is true. My floor space is limited, so the complete dust right system is perfect for me because the hose contacts back down to 3rd ft. Not so with the other. I was constantly tripping over all 20 ft. I love it.

The copper wire tears lose very easily from the plastic hose. I had to tape the hose for support next to the handles.

It is just as described in the product description and exactly as I needed. The telescoping and collapsing feature is just cool. When it's installed and collapsed as wall mounted, it keeps the shop neat. And in use it extends to do the job. It is a heavy weight material. So some caution needs to be used in using it and pulling on the hose in it's extended configuration.

Attached to my wall mounted dust collector and my table saw. Didn't notice but the hose had started tearing at the dust collector end, and the tear slowly spiraled down to the floor, necessitating cutting approx 4 feet off and reattaching. I'm duct taping the downward bend in the hose at the dust collector. Hopefully this will prevent another tear.

Hose will not support it's own weight. It is very heavy. When extended to my radial arm saw 10 feet the plastic part has started to split between the wire loops in the hose. I have had to duct tape the spilts. I would not buy a replacement hose of the same.

I like the concept of the hose collapsing down so small, which is why I bought it (I bought the 4" hose that extends to 21 ft, collapses to 3 ft). Because the hose coil is metal, the hose is rather heavy. When fully extended, or close to it, there is a lot of weight from the hose tugging on whatever tool port the hose is connected to. And then when you turn on the dust collector, the suction force inside the hose causes the hose to start collapsing and condensing, which puts even further pulling pressure on the tool's dust port...so much to the point that the port can break, and did in my case.

Here is my exact situation. I have a standing drill press about 12' away from where my dust right hose is connected to a chest level blast gate. On my drill press is the Rockler drill press table and dust port. On the dust port is the Dust Right 2.5" to 4" adapter. So I had the Dust Right hose (connected to the Dust Right handle) connected to my drill press, and when I turned the dust collector on, the weight of the hose and the collapsing force of the suction tugged at the port so hard that it broke the Dust Right 2.5" to 4" port adapter. It literally pulled apart the two parts that weren't meant to be pulled apart (and don't seem to go back together easily ).

So anyway, the hose is very durable and makes storage extremely convenient. But because of its weight and strong recoil it is hard to tug around the shop and and gets increasingly harder the further you extend it.

This has been very helpful. I replaced a 6' piece of landscaping pipe that wasn't as flexible as I had hope with this and it made all the difference. I can move around my shop to any tool and attach it and not fight it. Was a big help for me in my small shop, it is also long enough to reach any part of it, yet store out of the way when I don't need it.

I bought a used Jet DC-650 and needed a way to connect it to my table saw, planer and router table. I found the Dust Right hose and related accessories here at Rockler. I purchased the hose, Dust Right Master system and items needed to connect to my tools. Everything works together great and my shop is CLEAN!! Finally. The hose is a bit heavy and awkward to work with at first but once you get used to it you will love it. I also bought the rack and have found it impossible to get the hose to stay on the rack. I don't have it mounted to anything yet so it as the hose goes on the rack it gets heavy on one side falls over. That is most of the problem I am having, also I think adding the Dust Right Handle Docking Port to the rack to hold the handle in place will solve rest of problems. Once I make those additions I think everything will work properly and this will be the perfect solution for my small shop. I definitely recommend this to anyone who has several machines to attach their DC system but doesn't want to run pipes and hoses to each one.

OMG!! If you are running hoses to your tools from your dust extraction system manually you must buy this! I bought this along with the adaptors for some of my equipment that has smaller ports and this makes everything very streamlined, clean and super effective. I also bought the vacuum wand and between having all my tools hooked up to the vacuum and the wand my shop stays very clean.

Excellent product. Has really cleaned up the mass of dust collection hoses I had. My only criticism is that the connectors do not fit the usual 4" connectors so you have to buy those specially designed for this hose.

Editor's note: Our designers had to consider tool ports on woodworking machines. As much as we'd like them to be, the fact is they are NOT standard in size. There are slight variations in size from manufacturer to manufacturer and tool to tool. Our Dust Right system components which are commonly used the special Tool Ports are not an all plastic mold. They are designed specifically with a rubber boot as an integral part of them, which gives the flex needed to fit the variations of port sizing manufacturers produce. By offering the Dust Right Tool Ports we are supplying a way to bring the non-uniform sizing of machine ports to a uniform size so that one can easily switch from machine to machine by using the Dust Right Handle with this collapsible hose.

Terrific hose. It's very flexible but still sturdy. The compression factor is the reason I bought it and I absolutely love how quickly and easily it compresses. The only catch is it's a bit heavy and difficult to handle when it's compressed. Still, there's no substitute if you want to regain some of your floor space. I use it primarily with the Dust Right system to do floor cleanup. It just pulls out for the cleanup and then neatly compresses again afterwards.
[Bridged Hose Clamp] is a brilliant device. It completely changes the ease of which you can get a tight seal on flexible hose. Someone should have thought of this years ago!

My workshop is also my garage, so any chance I have to save space is always welcome. The expandable hose makes storage much more efficient than traditional flexible hose, and the build quality is excellent. I was afraid the hose would try to "shrink" when attached to a tool, but that simply isn't the case. It stays put when you want it to, and easily retracts for storage. The flexibility of the hose is better than most and I believe the weight (others have mentioned) is a marque of its quality. I had very high hopes for this product, and my expectations were definitely met.

I have a small shop (9x19) with some full sized tools. If not for the dust right I would never keep my shop clean without triping over a hose constently. When Im finished with a tool I simply plug the end and the 21 foot hose turns into 3 feet that I can keep out of my way.

First, I would like to say this is a very great system. I bought it mainly to connect to my Dewalt Planer, which is about 15’ from my Delta 1.5 hp Dust Collector. I bought the 4” X 21’ hose and the floor sweep system.

Secondly, in actual use the hose does not stretch 21’ only 18’ but if you include the floor sweep system it is 21’. This works great even though it is heavy but by far better than hauling out the shop vac to clean the floor.

Third Tips and tricks: Rather than getting the Dust Right Tool Port I used a 4” schedule 20 PVC drain pipe cut 1 ½” long and cut out a ½” section perpendicular to the length. Slip this over your existing collector outlets at the machine and insert the dust right handle section over this. You will need to use both hands to get it on but it works. This works well with standard 4” L’s and Y’s etc. If you use this on all of your equipment, you can glue a piece of this on at each station. I tried this on the Dewalt Planer and a standard plastics “L’s.” If you buy a 10’ length of PVC it cost less than $14.00 for the tool port, and you can use what ever is left for you dust collection system.

Next, I had a piece of 6” PVC pipe and I cut it 4’ long. I cut a 4 ½” slot down its length and attached it to my Delta 1.5 hp dust collector in the horizontal direction. This is what I use to store the hose. The slot allows me to easily pull out the hose and retract it when not in use. “Necessity is the father of invention.”

In spite of the extra weight that others complained about I found the usefulness of the hose to make up for that. The hose is well made and should last a long time. It's a little heavy to move around but the results are worth it. I recomend the storage rack, it's hard to compress back to 3' to store it without it. Worth the money, my shop has never been cleaner.

The hose works fine. As others have said, the hose is heavier than a typical dust collection hose, but you get used to it. The biggest challenge is corralling the hose for storage - it's like a wet noodle. I need to store mine vertically, so I devised a series of magnets and velcro straps along a 1x2 to keep the hose in place.

The dust hose does stretch out and retract beautifully, and I can now reach everywhere in my shop, but it is a bit on the heavy side. I did not buy the Dust Right storage rack initially, but I am now considering it to help with storing the hose. The nozzles and extension fit nicely, and aside from the bristles on the bench nozzle being curled over from shipping it makes a great addition to my workshop. Thanks Rockler!

I have a garage shop and most of my work is done on the driveway. This hose allows me to roll out equipment, pull out the hose and attach it to whatever machine I'm working with, do the project and then replace the hose against the wall beneath my dust collector compactly and neatly.
I thought the price was a bit stiff but considering that I would have to store 20 feet of regular hose and this stretches to 20 feet but packs to three, it's worth the price.

I now have two of these that I use with my Jet 1.5 Canister Collector. I use them with the "Dust Right Tool Ports" and tow "Dust Right Handles. Even with both hoses extended, over 10 feet, I still have enough CFM to collect from my SawStop's 4" port and my Excalibur Blade Guard! The hose is well made and I expect that it will last for years. I would recommend this product/system to anyone.

I had read the other reviews that warn of the flexible hose being heavy, and at times, cumbersome. I was able to maneuver the hose, attached to my Delta dust collector on the vacuum end, and the Dust Right System on the other, around my 10'X23' shop with less difficulty than I expected. It is heavy, and works more freely around a shop that is not cluttered with tools, wood, benches, etc. (my is cluttered). The hose is far more flexible than what I had before. Flexibility is an wonderful advantage when the hose is in use.
Flexibility of the hose should be approached with a sense of humor when you want to put it away. The hose is challenging to store in its three-foot-long state. To prepare the hose for storage, block the end of the hose, while the vacuum is on, to shrink it to its three-foot length - that works. Vertical storage will keep it that way if you have some way to keep the stacked vertical hose from collapsing laterally. Imagine storing a 4-inch X 21-foot slinky vertically, or, if it collapses, horizontally, in two or three straight runs with switchbacks.
I find the weight and flexibility to be worth the trouble, and enthusiastically endorse the product.
From a strictly sensory standpoint: All of my older dust collection hoses are opaque. It is fun to watch the wood dust particles to swirl their way, inside the hose, to the dust collector . If there is ever a clog in the flexible hose, it will be easy to locate.

Yes, the hose is heavy, but like others I think that's not such a bad thing. Hopefully that means it's built to last. The clear plastic of the hose is a definite improvement over the solid black hoses I had (have), and even though the plastic is very flexible, it seems to be very tough. I tried to poke my finger nail through it near the end, and couldn't.
I mounted it vertically, with the fixed end at about 7', and then made a small shelf to set the handle of the Dust Right Master System on about 3 1/2' below it. Works great to keep it stored and out of the way.

I use this in my garage woodshop. I like the fact that the longer hose will stretch anywhere in the shop. It collapses nicely for storage. I use it often for vacuuming up the dust on the floor.
I would like to find a good way to attach the hose to some of my machines, however. Nothing seems to match up. Some of my jury-rigging works well, some not so well.

Based on other reviews, I was concerned it would not stretch to the full listed length. This turned out to be a non-issue. It does indeed stretch to the listed length and easily retracts when done.

This is exactly what I needed for my small shop. 20 ft of regular 4" hose takes up a lot of space and is always laying around in the way. I can now zip this out to the machine in use and stash it back out of the way when done. Brilliant!

Those complaining about the weight are thinking about it as a 3' hose or perhaps a shop-vac hose. Compare the weight to 20' of any other 4" hose and I think you will find they are very similar.

Thank you Rockler for another problem solved!

The expansion capability is nice, but it comes at the cost of much heavier hose. You can't just stick it on the dust ports of a machine without clamping it on - the weight is too much and it falls off.
I ended up putting a 10 foot section of traditional hose on the end of it for connecting to machines.

I agree that it is heavier than expected, but that is what I like about it, even though I pulled too hard to extend it the first time and broke my wall mounted plastic blast gate. I installed a metal one and a four inch swivel connection and it works great! I did go buy a second hose to reach 18 feet comfortably, but it does what I bought it for, it is a four inch hose (more volume), and it takes up very little space when stored (even with two of them joined together).

I like this hose for a couple of reasons. First, its nice that it naturally constricts when not stretched out. In a small shop its beneficial when hosts aren't laying all over. Second, its easy to stretch it to different machines. This simplifies set up when you have mobile machines and don't have dedicated hoses for each machine. The down side is that it is heavier than I thought it would be. Though this is a minor issue, but it's a bit cumbersome when using with a floor sweep.

Editor's note: When comparing size of the hose to what we may be used to using we have to keep in mind the considerable volume difference between a 4" diameter and the much smaller diameter of the hose of a shop vac. A shop vac will be naturally much smaller, but not offer the advantages of this system.

Works great I hooked it up to my Jet Dust Collection System. Hose is strong as well as flexible.

The retracting hose is very convenient. Perhaps instructions for mounting the rack were lost in the shipment, but I found none; so I've tried several vertical mounting arrangements. The distance from the hose coupling to the base of the rack is critical to the stable storage of the hose. I added a tool bar magnet to the wall above the rack to improve hose retention. I added braces on either side of the hose column to help when placing the hose back in the rack (a clumsy activity). I still haven't determined the most convenient way to gather the hose when returning it to the rack. It's a very neat concept, but I haven't determined it's a cost/effective idea as of yet. I'm open to better suggestions for using the rack.

I have a 20 x 20 shop. I could not extend the hose 20 ft to get to the other side of the shop. I ordered a second hose and coupled them together. Each section of hose extends about ten feet comfortably. It's heavy, but most 4 inch hoses are. It retracks well and even with two section couple together doesn't take up much room.

I found the hose to be very heavy and therefore more difficult to drag around. the heaviness may mean that it will last longer, I hope so. It does not retract as I had expected but in retrospect it may be easier to use if you manually compact it rather than fighting the retraction all the time. I hung it vertical on the wall and I believe that's the best way to store it.

Editor's note: A good tip for retracting the hose is to keep the dust collector running and cover the end of the hose. The suction will help pull the hose back into a retracted position.

The hose works as stated but it is very heavy and does not retract to it's 3 foot length unless laid horizontally. It is a lot better than hoses eveywhere though.

Excellent idea, quality material, expensive, practicality depends on how long it lasts.
While this product is expensive, I thought it might be a neat and inexpensive way to hook up all my machines to dust collection. I'd just move the hose from place to place and not have to worry about permanent piping or blast gates. Plus, I can easily move my machines around without worrying about dust collector plumbing. First a reality check, keep in mind that 21 feet of slinky is heavy. Now I consider that moving the hose around so much causes it to slide around on the floor more often and increases wear on the material. In the end, I decided to permanently plumb all my machines to the dust collector. The cost was worth the extra convenience. So, what do I use the hose for.
Despite some flaws, I like having this product in my shop. It's great for cleaning up the floor or dirty benches. I see problems, but I can't complain too much because I reach for it often and would miss it if it weren't around.

The hose is not perfect but its pretty good. It also is not as easy to condense as advertised. It needs much coaxing. All in all it is very helpful though. I just wish they sold a 2 1/2 version.

I purchased the 4" hose and Dust Right Floor sweeping system. Both were returned without any problem to Rockler. I found the 4" hose very difficult to attach to the Dust Right Floor system and connect to my dust control system. I might add I have moderate carpal tunnel problems in both hands. I also determined that the added adapters to allow the system to connect to my SawStop 4" port the Delta planer port and the joiner just raised the overall cost past any convenience I would gain from just using my old 4” clear hose.

Good concept. Very handy in my limited shop space. It is kind of heavy and very difficult to compress and store it in the rack. I think 21 ft. is a bit optomistic for length.

I was very disappointed in the design of this product , due to the size of our shop, we got the hose expandable to 21' and find it is heavy and cumbersome to use. It also does not lend itself to cleaning work surfaces so I use my little canister vacuum cleaner for both jobs.

Reaches just about anywhere in my shop I need it. No more adding or moving additional hoses. I just wish they'd get the ends to fit the tools without having to purchase additional adaptors.

Editor's note: We have to consider tool ports on woodworking machines. As much as we'd like them to be, the fact is they are NOT standard in size. There are slight variations in size from manufacturer to manufacturer and tool to tool. Note that this hose can be used by itself, however our Dust Right system components which are commonly used with it offers special Tool Ports are not an all plastic mold.

The only real thing this unit has going for it is the size of the hose. You'll find yourself fighting to stretch the hose out to anywhere near its maximum length. A few shavings will clog up the intake due to the grates so try to only use it to pick up sawdust. The tube and accessories are hard to break loose from the hose so I installed some handles to gain leverage. I also built a baffled separator to prevent clogs. All in all, it's so-so. Don't think I'd have made the investment if I'd known what I know now.

The hose comes alive when you try and place it back into the storage rack. The magnets are not strong enough to hold the hose and you need three hands to manipulate it. When you turn on your vacuum the hose starts to collapse. Too heavy and way too clumsy to use. I would return but way to much hassle. Not worth the money.

I agree with most of the others that the hose is quite heavy, but I ran up against another problem no one has touched on. This hose has a right twist whereas all the other hoses have a left twist. Why they chose to make it different I'll never know. Why is this a problem? Well, I have and use screw in connectors to attach to my machines, and they don't work with the right twist hose. Also if you buy the 4" bridge clamps, they only work with this hose and not the conventional hoses.

Editor's note: Both right hand and left hand spiral directions are conventional and common among hose manufacturers. All hoses and clamps offered by Rockler are right hand spiral.

The hose is flexible but feels heavy and does weigh a lot! Satisfaction to price ratio is not good for me. It is hard to stretch around or over my equipment in my 20x24 shop. If you have a shop where all the equipment is on the walls with the center open, then this will work for you. I finally got a 25'x 2.5" hose and it does fine with no clogging. I will continue to use the 4" for hooking temp equipment like my friend's planer because it stores well.

I really like the concept of an expandable hose for a small shop. I got the 21 ft. hose, it is heavy and cumbersome to stretch it out. In reality it will reach 12 to 15 ft. ok but any farther than that is a tug a war. The concept is good just would like to see it in a smaller dia. like 2 1/2" or 3". All in all it is better than having 20ft. of hose that does not retract lying on the floor. This one does store out of the way. Let me know when there is a smaller dia. available.

Editor's note: 2-1/2" size is offered as item# 32989.

The hose does expand, but you will not get the advertised length unless you clamp it in place permanently. If you plan to use the hose to hook up to different tools across the shop, add 15-25% to the required length. My shop is 24x28 and the 4' x 28' hose I ordered does not reach across 15' of space to my tablesaw without the need for heavy duty clamp to hold it in between. My revised plan is to plumb collection ducts down the center of the shop and run the expanding hose to and from several of these ports instead of to each individual tool.

Purchased this 4" hose in April, by August the rubber hose between the metal coils had separated. I've used the hose approximately a dozen times, and always return it to it's constricted position after each use. Thankfully, after contacting Rockler with my concerns, they agreed to send me a replacement hose at no cost. Great customer support!

I've owned this hose for about a year. This is a product I really wanted to like, however, after year, I've had to twice cut the end off due to tears. If you use it as indicated in the photos, the hose will tear where the host attaches to the fittings. I contacted Rockler about this and they said it's the nature of the beast. I've been careful to use elbows and other devices to keep the weight of those off the end of the fitting. It still tears. It's a good product. Just buy one size longer than you need and be prepared to cut the ends down as they tear.

I bought the 3'-21' version in 4". First of all, it is pretty stiff lengthwise. Even by pulling on it so hard it tries to tip over whatever it's attached to, it only stretches out to about 17'. There is no way this is usable if pulled out to 21', if that's even possible. Another reviewer mentioned how stiff this is and how hard you have to pull on it. No one wants to use something like this that you have to pull on with about 50 pounds of force to stretch it out more than 10’. The other problem is that the ID is slightly undersize, so it's a real bear trying to stretch it over any 4" fixtures. It takes about 10 minutes of wrestling with it to get it on. Doing it once is bad enough. At the dust collector end, I need to be able to take it on and off the dust collector inlet, because sometimes long shavings, especially from turning or from my planer, will clog up the collector inlet, and I need to be able to easily slip it off the collector to clear it. That works easily with the black plastic non-compressing flexible hose I am currently using, but impossible with this hose. I guess the only way around this is to buy another handle and use that at the dust collector end, too. This hose is more flexible than what I currently use, so I thought it would be great for moving it around to clean up the floor. But it's unusable the way it's made. It's also surprisingly heavy - much heavier than the black all-plastic 4" hose I currently have. I'd like to send it back, but the shipping cost may be prohibitive, due to the weight.

I like the concept but  I was disappointed right out of the box. The 4 in. 21 ft. hose weighs 8-10 lbs.. When connected to my system (pipes are in ceiling) the weight of the hose causes it hang down to the floor with the excess lying on the floor. It is OK for a stationary tool but doesn't work well with a floor sweep (too heavy and bulky to pull around).

I purchased this along with the Dust Right™ Master System, and between the two, keeping my small shop (20'X16') clean, will be a breeze!
The hose is sturdy, and heavy (a bit too heavy IMO). I have it attached to my Delta 850 Dust Collector, and with the Dust Right™ Master System handle attached, I can reach every corner of my shop.
One thing to be aware of is that this hose does not retract to it's original 3' length, unless it is stored vertically. It is quite heavy, and I needed to mount a 4" hose hook on the wall along with the Dust Right™ Master System components, to keep the hose off the floor, when not in use.
The nice part of these two items used together, is that there is no need to run hoses and blast gates all over my shop. I only use one tool at a time, so I can go from my table saw, to my shaper, to my sander...hooking up the dust collector to each machine as needed, is easy, with this set up.
