2) Submitted by Mark Ball, from Duluth, MN on 11/15/2010 Customer Rating: These hinges are not "flat backed" and in my opinion look like crap if you are putting them on a "nice" project, such as a jewelery box. You wind up with an 1/8" gap or more on the hinge side, even after mortising.

Instead of being flat there is a 1/8" lip where the box edge drops down to the hinge. Screws are very weak on smaller hinges, read the reviews and was prepared for this. But even with predrilling, lubricating, and being very careful I still broke one. Recommend buying an extra set just for the screws.
