I have also found the bench cookies ideal as an aid to air circulation under my laptop out in my shop. I do my project work design while I am out in my workshop. My computer laptop produces considerable heat both from the bottom and back of the unit. I find the cookies work well in raising the laptop enough to provide good circulation underneath (see photo). This helps prevent the laptop’s generated heat from cracking laminated bench tops.

I was skeptical of using them at first because I didn't want my workpiece to go flying off the bench when I touched it with the router, but they held it in place the whole time. They also work great for sanding and suspending the workpiece while applying finish.
