Besides delivering exact depth readings, this precision gauge features a remote
digital display that mounts up to 3 feet from the sensor! It’s perfect for router lifts,
and can also be used on shapers and other woodworking machines.
The gauge is accurate to within .001 inch, and displays its digital measurements in
either decimals (inches and millimeters) or fractions (inches). It has push-button
zeroing capability at any point. Powered by a CR2032 lithium battery.
Accuracy Specifications:
Decimal: +/- .001
Fraction: +/- 1/500
Metric: +/- .05
Additional Specifications:
Adapts to most commercial router lifts.
Requires drilling two small holes in your machine (drill bit supplied).
Includes sensor, display, battery, 3 foot cord and all mounting hardware.

I had to make some adjustments in the mounting to fit my lift. I have a "JessEm" "ROUT-R-LIFT". I am looking forward to using it with my pin router jig. I mounted the read-out on the wall as my table is against a wall. Read out is very easy in this arrangement.

The WR 525 remote readout was purchased for use on a 3 HP Delta Shaper with the intent of the elimination of profile cutter gauge blocks. Installation on lift mechanism was relatively trouble free after an appropriate location was identified for mounting the scale and sensor. The digital readout was very similar to other Wixey products with selections for Relative or Absolute measurement values.
Several position tests were conducted to verify measurement accuracy (+/- 0.001 Inch) to a indexed position with expected good results. The test did however identify the resolution of +/- 1/32 Inch inadequate in detection of slight changes in arbor height. On my installation, approximately 3/8 revolution of hand-wheel was required before the display indicated incremental change. Although this may be minor, this change in arbor height could be observed in profile cutter operations such as cope and pattern or glue joints.
During one test the digital readout DID change unexpectedly by over ½” without any change in the arbor position. Subsequent testing was not able to reproduce the same results.
In my opinion, this instrument could use improvement in resolution to 1/64 Inch, same as in the 6” WR 100 Digital Calipers. The instrument does provide signification improvement in measurement of cutter height and overshadows its inadequacies.

I find that I often like to set-up my router table to repeat profiles after I have removed a specific bit. Now, I install the router bit in the machine and set it flush with the table, then zero-out the Wixey and adjust exactly the same way each time. If I need adjustments, I just record the same offset for the future. Caution when installing the cartridge on your router lift - make sure it will not extend beyond measuring rule when the router is fully dropped. Nice family company with good email customer service.
"I just started woodworking about a year ago. When I start something, I go all out. In one year I have filled a shop with equipment, used and new. Rockler has helped me do this affordably and has helped me buy the absolute best products. Even when I have no clue what it does or how it works.
