I built this bench for my son-in-law. I used this vise for an end vise and it worked out well. Once I figured out the orientation of the vise, it worked perfectly. My only problem was when I decided to use 5/16 lag bolts to attach the vise to the bench. One of the bolts snapped and I had to figure out a way to get it out of very hard maple. Once I got it out, I redrilled for a 3/4 dowel, filled the rest of the gouges in with epoxy, and redrilled for the bolt. This time I used lots of paste wax when putting in the bolt-lesson learned! After checking out several vises online, I'm glad I bought this one. In fact I'm going to purchase two more for a bench I'm making for myself. I don't really need the larger end vise Rockler sells. The wooden face I made for this vise was 18 1/2" long and works great.

Nice product for the price. Very easy to install and works great. I used 1/4 lag bolts to fasten to the underside of my bench and #14 flat head screws for the front. Just pay close attention to the pictures as well as how it goes back together. I had no problem at all.

Great vise at a great price. Instructions on the box were a little hard to follow, but installation still went ok. Be sure to make note of the orientation of all the parts before disassembing or the quick release will not work properly. A parts diagram would be helpful to remedy this.

I easily installed this vise on my 3 inch thick workbench. I used 5/16" lag screws to mount the vise to the workbench and #14 flat head wood screws to mount the front jaw to the vise. The disassembly and assembly process was easy after incorporating the hints from the other reviewers. The quick release is great and works as expected. Very nice product.

So far no complaints. Fairly easy install but my workbench was being built at the time I installed it so I had easy access.

Very smooth operation. I really like it.

I installed this recently after finally building a proper work bench. So far I love it. No complaints. I installed the vise slightly tilted using washers on rear mounting holes per the instructions that came with my workbench, not the vise instructions, to prevent racking. Even without taking extra care for super precise installation, I am very happy with the performance of this vise so far.

I bought two of these vises to replace the cheaper ones that came with the work bench I bought from Rockler. I used the face boards that came with the original work bench vises. I had to enlarge the holes in the face boards for the vise rods to fit. I did not have a problem removing and reinstalling the plate that holds the vise rods together. The rods fit the holes in the work bench face with no problem. I put it all back together and bolted the two vises in place and they work great so far. I like the way the quick release works. I am very satisfied so far with the way the vises work.
