I do most of my work on a woodworkers bench and its somewhat difficult to clamp near the center of the bench. So I end up clamping on the end which makes whatever im working on want to fall off the edge where I clamp it. By installing plates in key spots this clamp solves all of my clamping problems and when not in use the plates are mortised so they are out of the way. So when buying these I highly suggest buying extra plates.
