Actually, this set rates a much higher scale, such as a "10". These carving tools are without a doubt the finest grade instruments that I've had the benefit of using. Besides that, they're EXTREMELY sharp. (Thanks for the included box of Band-Aids, they're very handy)(and I'm a very careful&deliberate person). To anyone considering Relief Carving: This set is "Par Excellence".

I had often wondered how FlexCut carving tools would stand up against the big, expensive sets. Then I saw them in action and was amazed. These tools are sharp as can be and ready right out of the box. Having the long and palm handles essentially gives you two sets of carving tools for the same price along with the sharpening essentials. If you have ever wanted to start learning how to carve, this is the kit to really look at. It is also a great set to travel with. It fits anywhere in the camper.

This is a very nice carving set, perfect for smaller relief carvings less than 18" or so. The blade selection is good, and the blades come sharp and ready to carve. The mallet handle feels comfortable in my large hands. The interchangeable blades in the set are similar to the blades used in the Flexcut palm tool sets. Extra handles can be purchased from Flexcut. Recommended.

I love these things. It has every chisel that I can't find anywhere else. These are perfectly sharp upon arrival. They do put the band-aids under these incredibly sharp chisels however, I'd just hate to panic when I cut myself.
