Glad that I purchase it. I would also recommend it, marks very well and fine for a more accurate cut. Build to last long and price to me was well worth it.

Worth the money, wheel has some play, but overall nicely built.

I knew from previous reviews that this marking gauge was calibrated in 1/8" increments, but I'd used one almost identical to it before and really liked it. So I ordered this one anyway. It is just dandy with a good finish on the materials and nicely constructed. I look forward to using it in my shop for a long time.

I consider my 2 stars pretty generous. I bought this on sale to try to learn dovetails. My issue is with the screw that holds on the cutter wheel. I expected that it would sit flush with the outside edge of the cutter. That way it would be easy to align with the thickness of a board or a setup block for specific layouts. Instead it stick out the end making it awkward to set, especially since the rule is layed out in 1/8ths. My other issue is that the cutter has a lot of wobble, regardless how much I've played with the screw attaching it. This tool works, but it is awkward & imprecise, so I feel I should have save my money for something better in this case. A bit of a disapointment since I have been quite happy with all my other purchases & often thought people were over critical in these review.

The only thing I don't like about this gauge is the 1/8" graduation marks, as was noted by other reviewers. Otherwise, it's perfect. Recess in the base is nice, so it protects the cutter for storage. The cutter originally is not very sharp (not sure if that's by design), so it presses into the wood instead of cutting through it. It's OK along the grain, but across the line is not quite clean, especially on softwood. I had to sharpen it a bit on a diamond block, which fixed the problem.

I am very glad I bought it. Didn't have a chance to compare this gauge with a similar one from Veritas, but it still meets my needs for half the price.

The marking gauge is nicely made and finished. the reason for the low rating is that the scale is only divided in 1/8" markings... kind of coarse, by my woodworking standard. I missed that point in the specifications on the web site but feel that 1/16th should be the minimum and 1/32 is better. The metric scale is in mm increments which gives a ~.040" resolution, surely they could have done 1/16th (.062) or 1/32 (.031")

Should have checked this before leaving the store. The threaded knob will not tighten. The tool is worthless.
