Wright, from Louisville, KENTUCKY on 11/9/2009 Customer Rating: I knew from previous reviews that this marking gauge was calibrated in 1/8" increments, but I'd used one almost identical to it before and really liked it. So I ordered this one anyway. It is just dandy with a good finish on the materials and nicely constructed. I look forward to using it in my shop for a long time.

2) Submitted by KT, from Vancouver, BC on 10/22/2009 Customer Rating: The only thing I don't like about this gauge is the 1/8" graduation marks, as was noted by other reviewers. Otherwise, it's perfect. Recess in the base is nice, so it protects the cutter for storage. The cutter originally is not very sharp (not sure if that's by design), so it presses into the wood instead of cutting through it. It's OK along the grain, but across the line is not quite clean, especially on softwood. I had to sharpen it a bit on a diamond block, which fixed the problem. I am very glad I bought it. Didn't have a chance to compare this gauge with a similar one from Veritas, but it still meets my needs for half the price.

3) Submitted by Loring, from Katy, TX on 9/17/2009 Customer Rating: The marking gauge is nicely made and finished. the reason for the low rating is that the scale is only divided in 1/8" markings... kind of coarse, by my woodworking standard. I missed that point in the specifications on the web site but feel that 1/16th should be the minimum and 1/32 is better. The metric scale is in mm increments which gives a ~.040" resolution, surely they could have done 1/16th (.062) or 1/32 (.031")

My problem is the same as the first review - should have at least broken the measurement down to 1/16th's or 1/32nd's if possible. However once it's set to the length you need - you will get exactly the same measurement over and over.
