I think this is the worst engineered piece of equipment I have ever purchased. I had to modify both it and the cabinet I installed it in to make it fit despite the fact that the cabinet dimensions were all within those stipulated in the catalog (you should include a statement to the effect that any existing cross pieces on the front of the cabinet under the drawer will impact the ability to install this without major modifications.
And after getting it installed and putting the kitchen mixer on it the whole assembly swayes from side to side when raining or lowering the unit, even after I stiffened it up by substituted machine screws and nuts for the wood screws you included to fasten the shelf to the brackets.

I am very disappointed in this product, It looked so nice in the photo and the idea is great, but, the product is weak. I was installing it for an elderly person who did not want to have their mixmaster on the counter anylonger. I found this swing shelf in the book and I thought it would be great for this application, but, after I installed it and tried it for the first time, the locking tabs bent and the shelf would not lock in the up position without pushing the locks back into place, also when lowereing the shelf, the right side would drop much faster thant he left side. I spent about 2 hours trying to find what caused this to happen. I measured and re-measured to make sure I followed the directions (which are poor at best)to the letter. I supported the brackets, took the supports out, tried to readjust the location of one side thinking that they were not equal, but, my tape measure and level didn't lie to me. So after trying several of this adjustments, I said it just isn't going to work properly, and I removed it form the cabinet opening and boxed it back up.

This is the worst product I've seen in a long time.It is poorly designed, weak materials, and dangerous. The side arms sway side to side and sometimes hit the cabinet when trying to put it away. The dark metal clips fall out of their slots allowing the mixer to crash to the floor along with the exspensive dough. They bend and don't lock in place. It is still in the cabinet but we do not lift or lower it with the mixer on it. I've jury-rigged something to ensure it doesn't fall. In the meantime I am looking for another one that is better made.

I'm so disappointed with this lift. The instructions don't show that the springs intrude into the shelf area so the custom cabinet I made for this ended up being about 2" too narrow for the equipment. The metal locking tabs are made from cold-rolled rather than spring steel so the 1st time we released the mechanism, they bent and wouldn't lock anymore.
