With adjustable mounts, these trammel points attach to various beams to create compasses of any length. Great for layout, marking, measuring and drawing any size circle or arc — especially when conventional compasses aren’t big enough. Includes fine-tipped needle points and #2 pencil lead for marking.

1) Submitted by Frank Petruso, from Florissant, MO on 7/24/2011 Customer Rating: After reading the good reviews I decided to purchase a kit & make my own beams for the kit. I used hard maple for the 3/8" by 15/16" beams & made them different lengths so that when making an arc I wouldn't have excess beam make the use of the kit awkward. I'm throwing out all the make-shift pieces I have laying around, one-shot deals anyway. The wood handles or knobs and brass parts are classic. I shopped others and bought these based on their looks. I will have this tool for a long time. Two projects with arcs out of the way and I LIKE 'EM.

4) Submitted by Shawn Willard , from Alburgh, VT on 1/17/2011 Customer Rating: Great for circle and radius layouts. I'm also looking in to getting a steel shank with a diamond tip to cut glass circles. I will adapt the 2nd trammel point with a suction cup for a pivot point.

Only one objection: the trammel points cannot be used with a standard yard stick, which I was hoping to use. The yard stick is too wide and too thin to fit the points. BUT....it all worked out great with a 5/8" piece of poplar. These points were just what I was looking for!
