2-1/2'' Dust Collection Starter Kit

Customize your own three-machine dust collection system with this 2-1/2'' starter kit. Y-fittings are designed to service more than one machine and provide optimal lateral airflow. Two elbows, two Y-fittings, three Stable Gate™ blast gates, and twenty 2-1/2'' hose clamps included.

Enhance your system with other 2-1/2'' accessories including plastic hangers, fittings, couplings, and clear piping (not included). 2-1/2'' hose sold separately. Use 2-1/2" dust hose or #36973 coupler to join lengths of the clear pipe, or to connect clear pipe to other 2-1/2" fittings.

1) Submitted by Dave, from Lehi, UT on 7/25/2011 Customer Rating: Adequate kit for use with 2-1/2" flexible tubing sold by rockler. However, the blast gate connections are tapered, so tubing slips off very easily even when secured with included hose clamps. I fixed this by adding a small screw near the lip that would act as a perpendicular stop. (click to see full-size picture in new window)

2) Submitted by Marc, from Hopatcong, NJ on 1/3/2010 Customer Rating: A good starter kit. If you choose to use the hose you will have no problems. If you choose to use the tube the connections to the blast gates will be an issue. The gates do not connect directly to the tube or fittings and the couplings don't fit well to the gates. My solution was to make short 'jumpers' of hose, using the hose clamps to connect the gates to the rest of my clear view tube and fittings.

3) Submitted by Shane Kennedy, from Raleigh, NC on 9/23/2010 Customer Rating: Save your money. 4" starter kit has diameters of 3-7/8" which has no problem fitting in a 4" ID hose. Great kit. 2-1/2" starter kit has diameters of exactly 2-1/2", so trying to fit pieces in to a hose that has a 2-1/2" ID requires a blow torch or heat gun.

4) Submitted by Charlie, from Orange Park, FL on 4/10/2011 Customer Rating: Worked well for me, with exception of hose clamps, would not tighten up to a point of keeping hose on gates. Replaced with new clamps. Also really didn't see a need for 90 deg elbows for a starter kit. A reducer would have been better so as to be able to connect the factory 2-1/2" hose to gates, I cut of ends of hose and clamped hose onto gates. All in all not a bad price to get started.

5) Submitted by Glenn Bradley on 5/4/2010 Customer Rating: This is a good value on the gates, wyes and clamps. The elbows are not recommended and are basically throw-aways. They are not a consistent inside diameter through the bend and the opening is quite restricted. I would use a short piece of hose or another version of the fitting if a 90* bend were required.
