Magnetic Lock Combination Square

Six rare earth magnets hold the ruler in place instead of a clumsy screw lock. Body slides quickly and easily along the ruler through the magnetic lock. Heavy-duty cast zinc body is milled on all five sides for superior accuracy. 12'' ruler is etched with markings to 1/16'' and 1mm. Features onboard spirit level and EasyGrip™ scribe.

1) Submitted by Esky from MA on 3/28/2011 Customer Rating: Great new tool! I'd rate it 9 out of 10 stars. To get that one last star, I wish it would still have a way to lock in a measurement so that when I bump the ruler which I have done already, I could be sure the measurement hasn't changed.

2) Submitted by Gerald Clare, from Los Osos, CA on 9/5/2010 Customer Rating: Just bought this square and I really like it. It's easy to use, the magnets hold it firmly when needed but it's easy to move when you want to. There's not a lot to say, it's just easier than the old combo square.

I bought it more out of curiosity than need. The six magnets do hold the rule in place, and allow fairly easy adjustment of the rule position relative to the square body. The general workmanship and finish is good, and stainless steel rule's markings are easy to read. The only thing I dislike about this unique square, is that the rule has metric scale markings on the opposite edge of the rule, ie: one edge is in inches, and the opposite edge is in centimeters. I would prefer that both edges be in inches. As to general use, it seems to work fine, and it's price is quite reasonable. The Scribe is also held in it's own parking slot, again by the same magnet array that holds the rule in place. I would recommend this tool based on the quality of it's construction, and it's reasonable price. The magnetic rule holding method also seems to work quite well.
