I purchased the Porter Cable 7518 and a Mast R Lift to replace the M12V Hitachi router in my router table. I could not be happier with the router. I thought it might be a bit top heavy but was amased at how balanced it was. The reason for the relpacement was the ease of adjusting the router bit with the Mast R Lift.

I bought this router for the table, I later added the JessEm Mast-R-Lift, both are the best. I routed over a 1000 feet of 1x2 poplar for cabient doors running for hours it never missed a lick in a closed table, I ran a 2 inch and 1-1/2 inch dust ports on it and blew it out and off with my porter air compressor after each use, it still like new. I wish I had a second one to use when doing doors so the set up never had to be adjusted but with the JessEm lift it was very easy.

PC 7518 fit the lift perfect. I have two of these routers and they are great, With one in the table and one for free hand work, now the one in the table stays there.

To alleviate the problem of dust or fine saw dust, I use dry compressed air from my air compressor. I usually blow out the wood chips every week or two and the router runs like new.

The 7518 Router is one powerful machine. I have had it under my router table for some time. The only draw back is the accumulation of wood dust gets into the grooves of the up and down housing and it takes quite a while to break it loose. The motor itself is all scored because of this. I have a 4" connection to a dust collector and it still clogs up.

This router is the standard in the industry as far as 15 amp routers go. In more than 11 years as a Rockler store manager, I only saw 1 returned.
