The CNC Shark® Touch Probe attaches to the router in any CNC Shark® Routing System to trace objects down to 0.001" detail allowing the user to import image data for replicating objects, shapes and patterns. Requires Cut 3D Software or similar software to be used with the CNC Shark models.

Touch Probe is compatible with the following machines:

Simply program the Shark to operate at the same detail level as the Touch Probe scan to reproduce the object later. Works well for replicating basic shapes for carvings or reproducing damaged areas on antiques or other irreplaceable items. NOTE: To avoid accidents or injury, always be sure to unplug the router prior to attaching the Touch Probe.

I'm only giving this item a good rate as I have tried many settings to scan coins. It won't work with a coin. I have been informed, via: Vetric forum that the tip is NOT fine enough to scan a coin. It is rated to 0.001 but will not pick up the rise on the coin very well at all, even setting the step sizes down to 0.002 and the scan velocity at 2! which is better than 26 hours to scan a 2" coin. The outer profile was smooth but that is all I got. I did scan a lighthouse candle mold and that scan turned out great. Just make sure you set the "Z" setting way higher than the object being scanned so the needle don't get bent or broke. They do need to change what they are claiming the Prob will pick up from 0.001 to about .01 or larger.

These things are like magic, you can scan stuff and then actually cut it CNC Shark.my experiance isnt all good though. After a couple big scans the probe would stop hugging the work and ride above it. In an attempt to clean it I of course broke the circuit board inside. I immediatly bought another one and it seems to be holding up.

I followed instructions on how to set this up and use it. I had a piece of molding that was approximately 1/2 inch wide and I guessed at least 6 inches would accomplish what I needed. I set everything up and started the scan. The tip bent when it came to the model it was supposed to scan.
I will find another way of doing this type of work.
