Understanding
Door Overlay

Overlay |
| If
the door is completely flush with the face frame, it uses a full
inset hinge. Typical butt hinges fall into this category. |
|
If
the door overlays the face frame completely, without a rabbet on the
back edge, it uses a overlay hinge. An adjustment feature of Blum Clip Top Hinges allows them to be adjusted by 1/4" from side to side. Because of that, the hinges available in this offer can be used for doors that overlay the cabinet opening by either 3/8" to 5/8" (Rockler# 55926) or by 1/2" to 3/4" (Rockler# 55933).

How
many hinges and how much adjustability?
 Use
the chart to determine how many hinges you'll need for the height and weight
of your door.
A door
that is 43'' high and weighs 14 lbs. requires three hinges. If your door
is only 24'' high but weighs 14 lbs., go with three hinges for maximum
support and stability.
Use
on 5/8'' - 3/4'' doors unless otherwise noted.

These are the hinges that my cabinet subcontractor uses for all their flush overlay doors. Their quality is top notch, so I then use these for smaller jobs where I don't need to call in the big guys. Superb hinge. Super simple to adjust and get door spacing laser-straight.

I now use these hinges for every piece of furniture that I make--provided it has a door. The Rockler Concealed Hinge JIG-IT system makes exact placement of the hinge very simple, and it is so easy to adjust the doors for a fit that looks perfect. This particular project is an aquarium stand for my granddaughter, constructed of maple plywood and solids, with walnut inlays in the doors. Note that my granddaughter has yet to pick out the knobs for the drawers and doors.
My granddaughter's comment on seeing the unit: "Good one, Grandpa!" Kind of makes it worthwhile!

After working for months designing and building a large kitchen island for a client, I wanted the hardware to be top notch as well. After searching a bit a the big box stores, I gave up and went with these hinges from Rockler. These hinges with the additional Blumotion Soft close mechanism gave the island a final high quality look and feel. I'm glad I went with these hinges, and so is the client! I will use them again in the future.

I needed adjustable hinges to be able to align two cupboard doors. The hinges gave me the adjustability I needed and I was able to align the doors perfectly with the drawers above them.

It is very hard to find decent hardware at the big warehouse type stores. Theses hinges are great in that they allow to correct for minor flaws in construction.
I think that Rockler "Rocks."
