I purchased these hinges to replace some 18 year old hinges from a different manufacturer. They fit perfectly into the same holes as the originals. The spring action is superior to the originals. Easy to install in minutes. I'm completely satisfied.

These are top quality hinges and are easy to install. I am in the process of building custom kitchen cabinets and these were the hinges I selected to use. I am glad I made a sample door and decided to use it when I installed the hinges. They worked great but the only thing I did not like was that the hinge side of the door sat close to a 1/4" from the frame and there was no way to adjust it closer. I tried an other style and it was a little better but I still did not like the space. I ended up bulding frameless cabinets Euro style where you have adjustability in the hinge to close up that gap.

The hinges work fine and are easily adjusted, though not as easily as a traditional 3-way cup hinge. While they work exactly as advertised and I'm happy with them, I have found clip-top hinges to be easier to work with when I have an awkward location or heavy door.

Never having worked with Blum hinges before I can now attest that they are easy to install with the directions that were given on the package. What is equally appreciated is that before ordering I was not understanding the 1/2" and 3/4" indentation or overlap as described to expect with using them. I called Rockler and a gentleman explained that the door would overlap the surrounding wood area would be the amount listed. That made it clear to me. Although the shipping was just about equal to the cost of the hinges I think I got my money's worth and thank Rockler for their help. Nice hinge !

Used on new custom made kitchen cabinets. Easier and more accurate to install that several other 3-way adjustment hinges that I have purchased. Far supperior to anything I have bought at a local big box store. Only issue was the back side frame tab had to be removed because my face frame stock was wider than 3/4in. Easy to solve though.

Excellent quality and product. Much better than can be purchased at the big box stores. Frame tabs eliminate possibility of incorrect positioning, eliminating alignment adjustments. I would recommend these to anyone looking for European style hinges. (Hung 10 doors in less than 30 minutes).

Purchased to replace a broken hinge on 10 year old
cabinets. Unable to locate exact replacement. This
one worked great. In fact ordered more for spares
in case have another of old ones break. Blum is one of
few who made a 3/8 face frame hinge. Glad they do. I found the closing spring was very strong. No problem in adjusting door once installed.

Blum makes a great product although at this price it is their 'bargain' hinge. It works fine but the in-out adjustment range is limited and the self-closing feature is not as strong as their top of the line hinges. But still a good hinge for the price.

I used these hinges to update my 50+ year old kitchen cabinets. I installed the hinges on new doors and thanks to all the great Rockler products, it made everything easier for me. The Insty-Drive bits and Insty-Drive system made it so easy. The adjustements on the hinges were also excellent. I couldn't have done this without your products. I will definitely use your prodcuts again.

I bought these hinges to replace those that came with the cabinets installed in our house about ten years ago, which were Blum variable overlay hinges (90788) with plastic inserts which act as springs. The plastic inserts in those hinges started to break about five years ago, and I made the mistake of replacing them with the same hinges, which are starting to break now too. These hinges promise to be a LOT better.

I've used this hinges before and have been extremely happy with them -- easy to adjust and very sturdy. All three bathrooms in my home now have shop built vanities with these hinges. One suggestion: why dont you have a gig for the 2 holes on door itself to mount the cup? Seems like a no-brainer, since you have jigs for everything else in mounting process for these hinges.
Editor's note: A jig is not used for the two holes as one inserts the cup of the hinge in the cup hole of the door first and then uses a self-centering bit in the hinge itself. This makes the hinge serve as it's own jig for locating those two holes.

When my kitchen cabinets were installed professionally 6 years ago, they used 2 types of Blum hinges. One type had a plastic part and another was all metal. This hinge is all metal and was a perfect replacement for the old hinge. It took less than 5 minutes to replace. I'm also happy with Rockler's prompt shipping. The only reason I rated the product "very good" is that only time will tell how it wears.

This is my first set of Euro style hinges that I have used. I was nervous at first but after just a bit of thought and some practice I love them. I would recommend buying the cup hole jig that's available. It's a great time saver. I am installing these hinges in MDF doors and I feel confident that because of the design they will hold. MDF has a terrible record of screws not holding very well. Thses hinges fit tight in the cup hole and with a wood face frame i won't go wrong. The only thing you have to overcome is because the cup hole is so close to the edge of the door you have to be careful of the door edge profile you want to use as it may cut through into the cup hole leaving an exposed edge.

I recently fabricated 28 raised panel doors of red oak. The 3/8" overlay 2-way adjustable concealed face-frame hinges put the emphasis on the beauty of the doors with no hardware visible. I was pleased with both the ease of installation and adjustment. It saved a great deal of time over the more traditional exposed hinges which often require five screws per hinge with virtually no opportunity to make needed ajustments for alignment after installation.

I got this hinge for an update of our existing cabinets with wraparound exposed antique brass hinges. They were very easy to install using a 35mm wood bit and plastic template, I was able to do 17 pairs in about 4.5 hours. The cabinets look modern and work great.

I have used 3/4" overlay Blum hinges and have been very satisfied, but I cannot say the same for the Blum variable overlay hinges #90788. They were too tight to the face frame and I had to bevel the edges of doors so they would open without binding. Also, most of the doors would not completely close. I had to shim the back edge of almost all of the doors to make the close completely. I would not order them again.

I had my cabinets redone a few years ago. The hinges were were going bad. The spring that closes, and holds them closed, were breaking. I found the hinges at Rockler. Although I wasn't sure I had the right item. The part I needed was right. The part that it attached to would not work, so I used the old one. It works just fine. Being as I am no cabinetmaker, it was sure nice to have the information I got. Thanks.

I bought this project to replace existing hinges of [similar] type that had broken. They use a plastic cam that rolls against spring loaded nylon points that gives the door its self closing characteristic. After about 7 years these plastic parts had started to fail, friends have had the same problem. I see that newer cabinets from the same manufacturer now use a new style of hinge from Blum that I assume solves that problem.

I am using this hinge on kitchen base cabinet doors. The base cabinets have slide outs instead of shelves. I built the doors with a 1/2" overlap. The hinges work well because they are fairly low profile and clear the side mounted rails on the slide out. If I were to build the doors over again, I would build them with a 3/4" overlap because the 3/4" hinges provide more clearance between the open door and the slide outs.

Blum face frame hinges are excellent--standard for products sold by Rockler. Installation instructions could be improved. The hinge has cams beneath the screw heads for minor alignment alteration. This is not mentioned in any instructions. In fact the package for each hinge pair mentioned a "...slide arm..." which this hinge does not have. The hinge is one piece construction. Once this is known further installation in replacement situations is straight forward.

1 1/2 years ago I bought a house with cabinets that all had the Blum variable overlay hinge. They appear to be nearly identical to item #90788. I expect they are about 12 years old. Well, about 20 of the 64 hinges in my kitchen have broken. On that model there is a plastic insert with a tab that provides the "spring" to keep the doors closed. That tab has broken off on 20 of the hinges and I have had to use rubber bands on the exterior knobs to keep the doors closed. I think the metal spring on the 31329 and other overlays is much less likely to fail. But, I am very displeased with mine.

The design is a good one but the manufacturing fails to support the design. The metal is soft and too weak. It is just pot metal and cannot be depended on for more than a few years. We have to have several on hand to replace them as they break. A sadly typical case of profitability over pride.
Editor's note. Blum offers a lifetime warranty on hinges. If replacement is needed Blum can be contacted directly at 800-438-6788.

I was tempted to rate these as Good just because of the price & ease of adjustment, but the finished product turned out very sub-par for me. Even when adjusted to its limit, the doors sit too far off the face frame to look right (almost 3/16"). I also advise anyone against drilling the cup with a power drill even if you have a jig, you should use a drill press. You get what you pay for I guess.
