The SD500 Series of dado sets cuts everything from veneered plywoods and laminates to solid wood, chip and splinter-free with a super smooth, flat bottom. The SD500 Series dado sets were the first to include a 3/32" thick chipper and has the flexibility of an adjustable dado to handle today’s undersized plywood. This allows the cut width to be adjusted in 1/32" increments and doubles the number of slot widths available. A shim set is also included with the dado set for fine adjustments.

Use on all table saws, and radial arm saws for cutting slots, grooves, dadoes, and rabbets in softwood or hardwood. SD506 is 6'' in diameter, and SD508 is 8'' in diameter. Both include (4) 1/8'' , (1) 3/32'' , and (1) 1/16'' chippers.

I was using a cheap $50 dado set from a big-box store and it was chipping the heck out of my birch plywood and left a horribly messy bottom. I took the plunge on this Freud set and it was money well spent. No chipping at all and the bottoms on my dados are clean.

Have used my dado set only for a few things around the garage but am impressed up to this point. VERY clean dado's without chipping/splintering even in plywood. I have always used my router table for dados, but am slowly gravitating back to the table saw and my new dado blade because the cuts are so clean.
For the extra $ why not buy the 8" set.
So far I love the dado set.

Haven't had a chance to use it yet. Spent the first several weeks of opportunity playing games trying to get a set that didn’t have the insides of the plastic case all broke up. I received two with the same problem. Finally gave up and just kept the last one. What should I expect, I got it on the 20% off sale. Hope the blades hold up better than the storage case. So far I’m not impressed.

I am very satisfied with this set. It makes smooth cuts, is easy to tweak and adjust and looks like it has enough carbide on it to last a lifetime of sharpening! In my opinion, the 4-tooth chippers make a big difference. I very briefly used the Dial-a-Width set in the psat and was not happy with the way it fit on my arbor (was difficult to slide on / off and tighten or loosen due to the large hubs). Incidentally, I saw no visual difference in cut quality between the Super Dado and the Dial-a-Width Dado.
My only gripe is the case. I would have gladly paid an additional $10-$20 if Freud would have provided a hard plastic insert with padding between the blades. I will likely make something to accomplish this.
If you want a solid set, go with this one. The 4 chippers is worth the upgrade from Freud's lower end model and the adjustability of this one is just right for me.

I have had my Freud Super Dado 8" set for at least 4 years now, and it is still going strong. I have used it on solid Oak and on plywood, and for both, there is always a clean cut, the bottom of the dado is smooth and square, and I am very pleased with the results.
The plywood will normally fit in the dado perfectly when I use the 3/32" chipper blade with 3 of 1/8" chippers (and the two 1/8" outside blades)but I sometimes need to add in a shim (included) for just the right fit. My only regret is that my Delta X5 contractor saw's arbor is not long enough for me to try more than a 3/4" stack up. However, it cuts those dados without bogging down at all. (My old Craftsman table saw was just minimal for cutting a 3/4" dado 1/2" deep, but it had issues ripping at times too.) Just make sure you use a zero clearance insert for the blades.
If you are trying to decide between the 6" or the 8", I would not hesitate to spend the extra $20 to go for the 8" blades.
Keep the sawdust flying. I would not hesitate
