I was very pleased when I opened the box and saw the heavy gauge metal used in constructing the parts. The package is heavy when delivered so I shouldn't have been surprised. It seems very sturdy. The pieces went together very well. I used Oak blanks. The instructions say to cut it down to 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 but I cut them a bit larger than that after measuring the space the boards would fit into. I did this to eliminate any slop between board and metal. It all went fine until I went to install the foot lever which wouldn't fit quite right with the oversized piece of wood. I had to shave that piece down a bit and it then fit fine. Next time I think I'd just follow the directions and cut the size recommended. The foot lever works easily to allow the tool to move (I had just purchased a new Grizzly 10" combo jointer/planer)at 311 pounds. It feels like it would handle quite a bit more weight than that. I am very pleased and will likely buy more of these for various roll-around cabinets I intend to make. I'm not sure if I'll buy the ones with the foot lever or not for the additional bases. Could save some money by moving the pedal from one to another but it would sure be more convenient to have one on each base.

I have always been completely satisfied with the products I have purchased from Rockler. My recent purcashe of the Power Tool Mobile Base was yet another good decision. I also purchased the stretcher boards with my base. This product was even better than I thought and it works great. I would recommend this product to anyone needing a mobile base for the tools.

After looking at the product for months I finally decided to order. So I ordered 2 of them. After receiving and seeing the quality of the product I was wondering what took me so long to order. I would recommend this prodcut to everyone that needs to move equipment around their shop. I am using one of my bases for a mobile thickness planer and miter saw cabinet.

This makes the 3rd one I own. My shop isn't that big, so I rely on mobile bases to move my larger tools around. Simple to put together, and allows for a wide variety of base sizes.

I purchased the base to make my garage based wood working shop a bit more flexible, specifically for my hybrid table saw. The instructions were good and easy to follow. I did not purchase the 1 1/2 stringers with my order, but instead used some oak blanks. I initially ripped down some 2 x 6 stock but found that the rounded edges made the fitting too lose and I wasn't entirely comfortable that the pine stock would support the saw (even though directions indicate pine is sufficient).
I was extremely careful in measuring and marking the holes on the stringers and was grateful I did that when I assembled it. If you have a drill press, use it. Exact alignmnet of the holes in the stringers and the holes on the steel supports is very important to ensure a rigid base. If you have an agle in your drill hole, I imagine it could be very difficult to get the bolts through.
To make this product better, they should consider including a paper template for easier marking on the drill holes.

I put this base together in about an hour. The directions were a little vague but the diagram helped make up for it. The base, once assembled, worked great. No problems at all supporting the weight and manueverability was excellent. Thanks for a great product.
"I just started woodworking about a year ago. When I start something, I go all out. In one year I have filled a shop with equipment, used and new. Rockler has helped me do this affordably and has helped me buy the absolute best products. Even when I have no clue what it does or how it works. You have helped me with the know how to complete my projects and I will keep coming back for years to come! Thank you Rockler." -
