Best little Jig You ever sold I have been Sharpning tools for 30 yrs. for Ford Motor Co. and would not be without this litte gem.

Not bad for plane irons, but barely useable for chisels with blunt sides, since the chisel can not seat well within the beveled sides of the clamps. I also found the the small width of the wheel made it a little difficult to keep the jig from tilting to one side or the other during sharpening. As a work around for my chisels, I place the bottom face directly against the lateral bars of the tool and use a pair of pliers to tighten the bolt.

If I could rate separately for plane irons vs. chisels, I would give a 4 or maybe even 5 for planes and a 1 for chisels. For planes it really works well. With my chisels, I am able to do better freehand.

As an average weekend woodworker. I found the Honing Guide a little difficult to set up each chisel in order to make it level. The more I have used it the easier it is to work it. Great tool to have when one can't afford the machine sharpeners.

A 3 star is in the middle of poor and excellent. This is excellent for plane irons but poor for chisels. There is a lot of fussing and trial and error to get the chisel perfectly level and aligned in the slots. If a chisel hone is what you are looking for this is not it.

I bought this to sharpen my wood chisels and it does a supurb job. In the process, I used it to rejuvinate an old block plane of my father's. It cuts as well as the new block plane I have.
