Includes V-Carve 7.0 software, 1/2'' dia. V-
groove Bit and two hold-down clamps!
Bring the speed and precision of computer-controlled
machinery to your shop with this top value CNC system! With
a table measuring 28-1/2'' x 36'' it’s ideally suited for
carvings and machining operations on a large variety of
signs, doors and other small projects. It boasts impressive
power, speed, accuracy, and ease of use. With its robust
steel and high-density poly-ethylene construction, it can
take accidental impacts that would normally damage or
destroy an aluminum or MDF machine.
It is fully compatible with the Bosch Colt Palm Router
and includes a 1/2" diameter V-groove router bit. The CNC
Shark also includes the new version 7.0 of the VCarve Pro
software interface — a $600 value. You supply a PC computer
with USB 2.0 port and a Bosch Colt router (router sold
separately). Simply connect the USB cable to the controller
box and the other end to your computer (not compatible with
Mac computers).

I have been working with this Shark for about 9 months now, Slow learner, I have never had any experience with any kind of CNC machine nor am I a computer wizz but I was able to figure things out either by the videos or on my own. Would I buy it again? YES! So much fun and the smile people have when they see their project go from rough saw lumber to a personalized sign and or carving. I really like it. My Porter Cable Router is in the shop right now as the brushes have already worn out. Happy Carving!

I have the original CNC Shark Pro. With the new table and added software, this looks like a significant upgrade to what was already a great deal for an entry level cnc machine.

I recieved the Shark Pro in April 2011. This is the woodworkers dream. I am a retired machining spec. that worked with cnc grinders. G-codes is my thing. I have made alot of things with this machine. It is well built and alot of room for machining. I have done signs, engraveing, and 3d modeling. The software is great. So easy to use. Hats off to Rockler. A great machine.

This is a great CNC machine for the price. This was my first CNC machine although I have years of programing large milling equipment so the learning curve was quick, still have lots to learn, but I had usable parts and project within hours of use. Also I am West coast Canada and that is a long way to ship and the machine arrived in mint condition, great packing job.

Absolutely an excellent carver! I have never had a carver before but this one is fantastic. The only minor problem has been the USB cable was defective.

This is my first CNC machine, I still have much to learn but with the CNC forums, it makes it so much easier. I would really like to see Rockler stock a wider variety of milling/router bits for the CNC machines. The packaging this machine ships in is top notch! Whoever does the wrapping of products prior to shipping should be commended for a job well done.

As a professional woodworker and cabinet shop owner this machine would be ideal for all small cabinet/ woodworking shops if it could machine parts up to 24in. in width by 36in. in length. It's current size is ok for small carvings and signs for the enthusiest. This would certainly bridge the gap of the larger and more expensive CNC machines such as Shop Bot etc.

Just a response to Mike's email about length. I have found I can work 'infinitely' long pieces by drilling reference points on the piece with the CNC eg- a spot at 25,1 and 25,25. I then move the whole piece, use the indexes as starting points 1,1 and 1,25 for my next image. Depending on the complexity of your image, it takes a bit of care and attention to detail, but it can be done. CNC machines are awesome and open a whole new world. -eric

I just recently purchased the CNC SHARK PRO PLUS, after looking at the previous models for over a year. Excellent improvements especially in the table. I have had some CNC program experience, so it was not a totally new concept. However it was a little challenging to get started. First,I was disappointed to find that we had to download the latest drivers for the E-stop to work on the controller. This should have at least come in a disk in the pack. Secondly, the tech support numbers both online and VIA a card I was given at a wood show, were both worthless. I have called several times and left messages for them to contact me back at their convience and to this day almost a month later, still no call backs. Hope nobody needs tech support on setting up or sending back defective parts or machine. Machine working good and in good shape, but forget any support at all. Why they even post the support numbers is a mystery.

Rocklers service so far has been great except. From day one I had trouble with the probe. I was told to contact Next Wave about it and so far have not heard back from them! However in the mean time trying to get the probe working it snapped right off at the switch. Hopefully someone will fix this up and get me a new probe and not cost me another $300 after all I have only had it a few days. The machine? FANTASTIC. Very easy to set up. Very easy to use. FOOL PROOF? NO. But I can use it so you probably can too. Will try and keep you updated about the probe issue.

This is an update to my previous post. Being the first time I ordered something so expensive from the US I was very worried. But I am glad I chose Rockler and the machine I got. The probe gave me a hard time and eventually snapped off completly. Was worried I was out $300 but Rockler is sending a new one and hopefully I can figure out what went wrong. The customer service is fantastic. And so is my new CNC machine. Thanks Rockler.

I've had my Shark Pro Plus for a little over a month. I'm a hobby woodworker and this is my first exposure to CNC machining. The Pro Plus is a very well built machine that has worked flawlessly since setup. The learning curve to use the software/machine is rather steep, but the Rockler on-line sponsored forum, and the Vectric the sotware people on-line forum and on-line tutorials are of great help in learning CNC machining. Even with my short exposure to CNC machining, I am turning out some rather nice 3D carvings, signs, and miscellaneous. There is still a lot for me to learn to fully utilize the capabilities of the provided software.
Contrary to the previous reviewer, I've had no problem contacting Rockler support on this machine. May have taken a day or so for response, but I don't find that to be problematic. Additionally, customer support from New Wave Automation, the manufacturer of the machine, is also available and quick to respond. I've also contacted Vectric for support questions regarding the software and even though they are in the UK, I usually get an email response within 24 hours or so.
Even though this machine is not inexpensive it is worth the price compared to other CNC machines. I am very satisfied with the machine, the support services, and the capabilities of the software/machine.
