Jig does a great job at aligning holes even in tall cases. You can also adjust the edge to hole distance easily by adding thin spacers on each side. Two problems - the lower washer on the drill bit wears out after five floor to ceiling cases and a jam they happen will twist and deform the spring. PAY ATTENTION when you replace the drill! there is a special one for this jig that is different from other jigs Rockler sells.

The overall performance of the jig was great. The indexing pins are a nice improvement over using a shelf pin. I was able to get around not being able to move the holes in for shorter shelves by removing one of the guide rails. The only thing I would change is to add a storage compartment for the drill bit and allen wrenches like the JIG IT shelving jig had. It's just nice to have those things there when you need them.

I bought just the drill bit to use with my own jig. Other than needing to reset the bit length to work with 1/4" jig stock Rockler's jigs must be made from 3/16" thick stock for the angle pins it works just fine.

I have been using the other jig it shelfing jig made by Rockler and loved it. Once I seen this one I bought it right away. Opened box and realized that the two jigs use drill bits that look the same but are different drill bits. This one has holes in the jig that are slightly larger so if you use the other drill bit from the shelving jig it will wobble in the pro jig. So please don't assume like I did that they use the same drill bit. You must buy the pro drill bit for the pro jig. Luckily I checked my old bit with the pro jig before drilling. Now I just have to wait for the correct drill bit to arrive before using it. Perfect tool for the smaller shop like mine that doesn't have the budget or space for a large line boring machine.

Updating my review of the Pro Shelf pin jig with a picture of the finished product. Again, we were very pleased with the overall function of this great little tool and it produced rock-free shelves. The client was VERY happy with the results and that's all that matters! Thanks again!

This product came out at a perfect time for me. I'm a custom cabinet/furniture maker by trade and was recently commissioned to build a library complete with library ladder for a client in their home. The cases all needed to have shelf pins for shelving. We don't do enough volume to warrant a dedicated shelf pin machine, so we've used our fair share of the shelf pin jigs out there...including Rocklers Jig it system. The Pro system is the best we've used yet. We purchased this jig about a month ago from the website my local store didn't have it in stock yet. It came very quick and we put it to the test right away. The jig is very well made and the thicker acrylic is a big improvement. As you use the jig and move it up to the next level, indexing is a snap and it locks in place. There are two improvements I would make however. You cannot adjust how shallow or deep in the case you want the pins. The jig is set so that there will be 1 1/4" space from the edge of the case to the pin. This was an inconvenience for us because we built our cases with a 3/4" rabbet on the rear edge to accommodate the back. That only left us 1/2" to the rear pins...a little closer than we would like. The other issue we had was the bit clogging up and jamming. I know it's designed to eject shavings, but we had to stop every 20 or so plunges to clear the bit and get it working again. I understand that we're putting this jig in more of a production setting and probably asking too much from it. That being said, after more than 2500 shelf pin holes, we were overall very happy with this jig. I think that Rockler offers a great product in the Pro shelf drilling jig and we recommend it.

I put the Pro Shelf Drilling Jig together as shown. Looked great, but would not adjust. It would not slide. After looking closer, I noticed that the screws included were too long and had jammed the track, keeping it from moving. Once I corrected this problem, the jig worked great! Saved me much valuable time!
