Great product. My only complaint is that the clamps aren't faster to use and they can make the edge wander a little bit while tightening.

Purchased while I was trasforming my garage into a Man Cave / Woodworkers Ultimate Workshop. Just looked at the shipper, that was 4 months ago. I spent time cutting, shaping, drilling the acrylic base to fit my DeWALT DC390 Circular Saw yesterday. Today was the first time I used this system. It is one of those V8 moments: "Dang, wish I had this a long time ago". I will only use this system to cut large sheets, window frames or doors, so the 6 1/2 blade will do the job and I did not want to mess with cords. I went with the DC390 because it is super easy to remove the motor from base so I could drill/tap so I could mount the acrylic sheet. On the inside I had to remove a lot of tap to get to the parts, Rockler did a great job of shipping this to me, they didn't take any chances. Everything inside the box was taped down and secured.

This is a great product for ripping full sheets of plywood. It is very sturdy and lets me finally make accurate cuts with my circular saw.

Using a precision square that is accurate to 0.0028" per inch, I was able to attach the T-square and get squared up in just a few seconds, using the t-bolts. Using it to layout and cut some sheetrock for a wall repair took only a few seconds and allowed me to get the job done in less than 2 hours. You can tell by the construction and accuracy of the setup this is a very well made tool. As usual, Rockler has produced another great, accurate tool for woodworking. Keep up the Great work Rockler!

Ordered straight edge system on a Friday and received the item by the next Wednesday. On Saturday I was cutting cutting 4 x 8 plywood panels far more easily and accurately than ever before! I attached the system guide adapter directly to my circular saw base and can now rip a panel perfectly. Only request would be to acquire additional guide adapters so I could have other tool adapters made up and ready to go. Rockler comes through again!

This product does the job nicely but would be better if the clamps could be tightened from above or below. It was purchased for working in limited spaces and there is inevitably something too close to allow access on one end or the other.

I just received this system and have only used it for a couple of cuts with a jig saw. Results were reasonable for a edge guide type cut as there was a bit of side wandering by the unconstrained jig saw which was due to the less than ideal stock support that I had.
I first tried to use the T-square but found that as soon as I clamped it from the far end that it went out of square. Then I used the T-square attachment to mark a line and then removed the attachment and used the supplied clamps. This worked well.
I checked for squareness with a digital protractor and found it to be within 0.1 degree or the accuracy of the digital device. I also linked the two lengths together and after tightening the set screws, found that there was a slight bow in the center. Both of the ends seem to be slightly out of square. I corrected this by placing a straight edge level against both pieces before tightening. This left a small gap on one side of the joint. After moving the assembled bars around, they seemed to stay straight.
This is not an unreasonable result or practice as a 0.5 degree error over 52" amounts to a 0.45" offset at 52" per my CAD drawing.
I would agree with other reviewers on two points, extra accessory guide adapters are absolutely required to gain full value from this system, and some instructions on use are highly desireable.

I liked the product and have only one suggestion.
Mine had one clamp that would not release until I used a pair of pliers to start it loosening. I put some locktite on the threads and put the handle back on. This seems to have solved that problem. I have not tried to use the saw guide yet but it looks like a good way to keep a saw straight.

1 They are really whimpy, feels like they could break every time.
2 Clamps do not come with protective "feet" that could prevent marring the underside of a finished surface I had to steal two "feet" from my Messey clamps to use with this tool.
3 Clamps' threaded bolts are a 1/4" too short! This last point is huge. Where do you store the clamps when not in use? You tighten them onto the straight edge so you don't lose them. Well, no such luck! the designers of this product made the bolts too short to clamp onto itself with out any material. Seems to me that no one Beta-tested this product in the field before it went into production.
I would not recommend this tool for a jobsite. I think some rough handling in your truck may bend it. I'm using it for ripping sheets of plywood before bringing them over to my table saw for a proper squared edge. For this task, it works well. I think the clamps may break at any moment though.

I have not used the product yet on a long cut but I have assembled and played with it. My observations align with others:
1. First, I am very disappointed that the ends of the channels are not cut precesely square. This seems a huge blunder to me as the 2 mating ends should mate squarely to aid in keeping the edge straight for an 8' cut. How difficult can it be to cut squarely? Like others, I also used a straight edge to align the 2 channels then tightened the connector pieces and it "seems" like it may work OK - the channels maintained straightness with the set screws tightened. But, as mentioned by someone else, there is a gap between the 2 channels on one side where they meet and this could cause movement. Still, my gut feeling is that it will work. I'll see once I use it.
2. I agree, we should be able to purchase additional power tool guides. This tool should be usable with a circular saw, router, etc. and will require a different base to be made for each. Nobody wants to change base plates on the power guide every time you need to use another tool. I am not opposed to making the bases as others, it's not a problem in my opinion.
3. Clamps do seem cheap. Could have made substantial clamps and charged a few more bucks more.
4. T-square doesn't seem useful for fine work. I agree with others.
Conclusion: Even though there are negatives, I still will be happy with it if it can keep cuts straight. The channel is very nice and the power tool guide should do its job. I think this will work for me with a little TLC. Great price. If ends were square I'd give it a 4 I just can't get over not cutting the channels square, grrrrrr. Then with better clamps I'd give it a 5.

I have several Rockler jigs and tools that are well thought out and offer excellent build quality, but unfortunately I feel this tool is not one of them. I was very disappointed with the collective “shortcomings” that make this tool precision worthy. The product’s primary function of being a “true” straight edge is acceptable but the”T-Track Clamp” system and “power tool guide” are both critical areas of weakness that fall well short of “complete accuracy”. Specifically the clamps are not very robust and do not offer any type of surface protection for your clamped work piece. I had to add a couple pieces of self-adhesive felt to make them useable – but this should have been better designed from the start. Additionally, the featured extras work handle, story stick, clamps, t-square have not proven to be very useful as each seem to be more of a compromised solution than truly useful. I know some documentation is online and looking at the pictures on the box are somewhat helpful, but no inbox documentation or hints to help with proper tool assembly/alignment was the final nail in assessing this product with only one star.

The only problem I had with this product is the clamps. They are very whimpy and I had both of them bend and throw the tool out of aligment. I ended up causing damage to two sheets of plywood. When I added two of my own bar clamps this took care of the problem. I am going to try two pair of 36767 clamps and see if I can eliminate the problem of having to use additional clamps.

My last aluminum straight edge guide has lasted me a good 7 or 8 years, but it was time for something new. I knew I wanted some kind of a tracking system, as it's all too easy for the saw to move away from the guide rail, or under it when cutting thin sheets that like to bow for example. I found this system a little bit cumbersome when it came to assembling the two 50" guides. As others have mentioned, the machining on the edges is not square, and it's hard to confirm when the two parts are properly aligned. 2nd, an Allen wrench is required to tighten 4 set screws, and there is nowhere to store it. I resorted to some self adhesive Velcro, but some type of provision to store the allen wrench would be nice. This is kind of a nuisance on a job site. My old guide had a spring-loaded piece of metal that require no tools, and seem to work well enough. Something that did not require a tool would be nice. Tapered dovetail perhaps? Set screws?-not a good ideal. Enough said. The plastic handle is a nice touch to transport the straight edge, which are rather substantial nice, but they require a Phillips screwdriver to loosen, and I would have preferred to see some knurled nuts to allow this to be positioned easier. The bolts are slightly too long as well for the handle T-nuts, and mar the inside of the channel very easily. The finish seems extremely delicate, and the slightest turn of a clamp or set screw removes the finish. I can certainly see where this is going to show lots of "battle wounds" rather quickly. I think I'd just as soon see plain old aluminum without the coating or a better coating. Rockler sells a self-adhesive "weatherstripping" foam rubber, to put on the bottom you need two btw, to keep the guide from sliding. Once those are attached it increases the height of the rail, and consequently causes the Plexiglas guide to then angle down, and you will have to readjust your saw as it will no longer cut square or perpendicular to your wood. Some washers should solve the problem, but kind of an oversight to me. The weatherstripping seems to prevent the straight edge from moving, assuming downward pressure with the saw is maintained, but not so sure I would want to use it with a router without clamps. Still, it's really nice to be able to use a straight edge without clamps. The clamps as mentioned are pretty awful, no protection on the round clamping surface, and flimsy. There are a lot of clamps on the market that will work, so it's not a deal breaker for me, but for a tool that's over $100, the clamps should be more substantial. There is a little bit of slop in the mating parts to the sliding saw guide and rail, but not sure if it's going to present a problem or not. My Square was just under a 16th of an inch off in 4 feet. I consider the square to be a bonus, but don't rely on for precision work. For cutting sheet rock, it would be great. I have not tried the yellow edge for layout, again, not exactly a major selling point to me. In my 15 years of woodworking I have seen some really well designed systems, but I think the designers could have spent more time with this one. It works, but has its shortcomings. There's a lot of pieces and parts that can get lost as well, and it's finicky about assembly. Machine tolerances could be tighter. An average guide, no more, no less.

This straight edge clamp leaves a lot to be desired, especially considering the price. The good: I like the "T-Square" capability, as the drywall T-Squares you can buy are rarely dead-on square. The bad: 1. The bars are not thick enough. I would like a little taller edge for routing dados or truing a panel edge using my router with a pilot bit. 2. The clamps that slide in the T-Track on the bottom of the clamping bars are unsatisfactory. They are too small/light/weak. When you tighten them down, the bar creeps on the top of the panel, so "precision" is not a word that applies. The "foot" of the threaded shaft that applies the pressure needed to clamp the bar on top turns with the screw shaft, and that means it torques the clamp. One of my clamps is permanently twisted, so there is no hope of clamping the bar on top without mvoement. I have to guess how far it will creep when I tighten the clamp, and hope it ends up in the right place. I usually have to try it several 5 or more times before either get it in the right place, or give up all together. 3. The bars have two T-Tracks on their bottoms, one close to each side. There should be one dead center so the pressure the clamp puts on teh panel you are cutting is even across the bars. For $  I expected better quality.

I received and assembled this guide though I have not used it on a project.. yet.
A couple of observations:
1. The straight-edge did not come with any paperwork, no owner's manual, no parts list, nothing. Easy enough to figure out with the pictures on the box though. 2. The steel bars used to tie the two pieces together are too loose in the slots, I needed to use a putty knife to "push" the bars to one side of the slot to get the two halves to line up straight. 3. The T-square was off by a little less than a 1/16" over a 4 foot distance, good enough for drywall but I don't know what else. 4. The tool guide piece is made of plastic but fits nicely in the slot. Using the guide requires you to make an adapter plate to attach to this and your saw or router as pictured on the box.
Overall I will say that this is a good product and certainly better than what I was using before.

The guides are rigid and do not flex. The clamps need protective caps.  The power tool guide fits tight without slop for accurate cuts when used as saw guide. You do need to make your own power tool sled to attach to the power tool guide. The guides work well for 8’ sheets if you mill the ends so they are square, and clamp the guides to a straight edge before you tighten the connection links. Now the cutting guide will be straight and when using the power tool guide, it will not catch on the seam. With these modifications this guide actually works very well as a saw guide rail system when using the included power tool sled attachment. The t- square attachment needs to be reworked to make it square. As is, it is not useful as a square. If you are not able to mill the guide ends, then the cutting guide is great for 4' cuts, but not if you want to attach the guides together.

Purchased this recently and am rating it Very Good. Not sure why other reviews mention it needs additional guides, as these are available from Rockler for a good price. 42279 12' x 12' Acrylic Base for Straight Edge System, 42173 Power Tool Guide Kit with Mounting Hardware For Straight Edge System, and 43492 Straight Edge Grip Tape.  Comments relating the the T square are valid, but I would never rely fully on any square over a distance of greater than 24 inches....just way too much chance for errors.
