I was concerned at first when I purchased these hinges for ease of installation. The instructions that came with the hinges made the job an extremely easy installation with no problems.

The hinge's moving parts extend beyond the base plate, digging into the wood and leaving gouges. I had to make a shim on which to mount the hinge, with a cutout for the moving parts, in order to mount these. It looks like (and is) a hack job, on a cabinet I spent a long time building. I strongly recommend against these hinges and will replace them as soon as I can.
Regarding the spring action: one set closes nicely in the opening and holds firm. The other set stops a bit short, then is loose between there and fully closed. I haven't shimmed this second set to solve the gouge problem, and perhaps the two issues are related

I bought these hinges for installation on a toy refrigerator I made for a grandaughter. The door of the freezer only 14 in. wide sagged and was uneven, even after removing and reinstalling the hinges. The lower door worked better, but following the installation instructions for distance from the frame yielded a door that would not open. I ended up removing the hinges and using a piano hinge. I wanted the self-close feature of these hinges. I would not recommend or buy these hinges.

The medicine cabinet in the Airstream Interstate RV had a slide catch that had to be released manually to close the door. Users had tried to pull the cabinet closed and pulled the hinge screws out of the door. I replaced the hinges and catch with the invisible spring hinges(28845. Now the door can be opened and held open or closed without incident. It works very well, however it was very difficult to align the hinges correctly because they are mounted in a closed space with no other access to assure proper alignment. I mounted on the cabinet side, then pressed the door into the hinges with Playdough stuck to the door.
