These kits make great gifts. They are very easy to turn once you get the hang of it and have the right bushings. One note however...the instructions are not all that clear as to how to install the mechanism, but as long as you push it in the bottom part of the pen -you are home free. I made the mistake of putting it in the top the first time and what a mess!

This kit makes a very nice pen and I plan on making many more. My only issues are the twist mechanism needs to be pressed in much farther than recommended to have the ink cartridge to extend far enough. I also believe the bushings could should be made so that the band would not need to be on the mandrel during the turning process. Turning the tenon is easy as long as you are careful.

First let me begin by saying I am not new to making pens or assembling them. I ordered 10 pen 41500 kits during the 40% sale, out of the 10 kits I got 4 working pens. For some reason the twist mechanism is to big and to tight for the brass tube. If you use to much force the twist mechanism bends like a mushroom and you can't push the top portion together. We all know once you push the twist mechanism in you can't pull it out resulting in a spoiled blank as well.
