Bringing you the best of both water- and oil -based finishes, this advanced self-crosslinking top-coat combines the easy clean-up and fast dry times of a water-based finish with the warm amber hue of an oil-based finish. Its air-oxidizing curing process makes it extremely rugged, plenty strong for even hardwood floors. It is VOC-compliant, low-odor, non-flammable and cleans up with soap and water. Dries tack-free in only 10-30 minutes, and can be recoated in 2-4 hours. Brush, roll or spray on. Available in Satin, Semi-Gloss or Gloss.

I have been using Endurovar for about a year now. The flow out and resistance to running of this product is amazing. Even when I believe I have an "oops", I come back with a smile as the problem simply vanishes. Being a cabinet maker I initially had some questions as to the heat resistance of Endurovar around wall oven cabinets etc. I contacted General Finishes engineering staff directly, and their response was almost immediate, and in great depth. This stuff sells jobs for me. I once challenged a potential customer to scratch a hardened drop of Endurovar on one of my bench tops with his car key. He gave up and I got a signed contract.

Edurovar top coat has proved to me to be the best period. The flow out is superb, and the dry to no tack time is as good as laquer. It is very forgiving of overcoating, without too much worry of runs. HVLP spraying this product can only be described as fun.

I have used other water based urethane products, and this is hands down the winner. It's ability to flow out is amazing. We are on the third gallon and going strong. It's slight amber tint adds much to our knotty pine cabinets. To date we have brush applied, but I plan to spray all of the cabinet doors. We have added the general finishes crosslinker to each application. Very Pleased.

I did some tests comparing the Enduro Var product to the High Performance Water based poly from General Finishes, and the Enduro Var has a very different look. I wouldn't say that it has the full depth to the grain as a good oil rub and top coat finish, but I would say that it is very near what shellac produces. The High Performance product is an excellent finish, especially on things that going for a look that is less warm, but is lacking all the warmth of most traditional finishes. I am very pleased with the quality of the product through my spray setup, and yielded a very smooth finish with only two coats on unsealed wood. It levels well, and I am looking forward to using it on my next project.

Using this for a modern modular home bar using walnut plywood and solid walnut. First, the issue that I was not happy about was the color it brought out. After testing it on quite a few pieces, it does not look like an "oil" based finish, just like a regular urethane. The solid walnut and plywood walnut had 2 different color tones, the plywood had a greenish tone?? But I'm sure that's just the plywood. The good is it drying time!! wow!! in about 20-30 min it was dry to the touch and ready for another coat. It is also extremely tough! I guess I'm just going to have to put a General Finishes water based stain underneath and let that dry and continue on with the Enduro-Var. Other than the color, this is seriously an amazing product. Worth every penny!

If you need an insanely durable water based finish, this is the product for you. I have to disagree with the other reviewers who say that spraying it is at all "fun," however. While it does level incredibly well, using a 3-stage HVLP Fuji rig, I find that this coating atomizes very poorly compared to pretty much everything else I've ever run through the gun. Its globules are always quite large, so dialing back the fluid needle to mist it well tends to leave tiny spots that don't get any coating and end up looking like fisheyes when it dries. Thinning it out at all just leads to serious running problems. It's also extremely sensitive to surface contaminants of any kind, and just wiping your piece with a paper towel can lead to streaks that reject the coating entirely. A 4-stage turbine might be the ultimate answer for me, but if that's not in your budget, either, I've found the following to yield the best results: 1. Use a gravity cup. 2. Use a smaller needle than GF recommends I switched to a 0.25". 3. Only let a very small amount of fluid out and keep your spray pattern very close to circular-fanning it out only exacerbates the problem. 4. Keep a wet brush handy to smooth back any runs. Even if they look awful when it's wet, they frequently become unnoticeable when dry. 5. Let it dry a long, long time. They say 2-4 hours! give it closer to 10 unless you're somewhere very hot and very dry. 6. Wet sand between coats with something like Trizact or Micro Mesh abrasives, rinse off the slurry and scrub the surface down with a very clean, fabric softener-free rag and a little bit of naptha. Taking those steps in conjunction with all the usual spraying advice like maintaining constant speed and staying parallel to the surface should minimize the number of imperfections you have to contend with in your final coat, and reduce the number of times you find yourself screaming and sanding back down to bare wood-which is difficult because this is an extremely rugged coating.

This finish does all it says it will. I've applied it with an HVLP sprayer and with a foam brush and it goes on very nicely either way and dries to a good gloss. The slight amber tint gives it a nice warm tone. One thing to keep in mind is if you're spraying, put on a nice wet coat to allow the finish to flow out. The other is that waterborne finishes require time to cure. The manufacturer of this product suggests 10 to 14 days curing time before final rubbing out or polishing.
