Here's something to consider when selecting hinges...
Look at your cabinet design before selecting hinges. On Eurostyle cabinets,
hinges are attached directly to the cabinet side. This gives you the option
of fully overlaying, half overlaying or insetting the door within the opening,
as shown below:
Overlay
Applications
If you decide to use an overlay cabinet design, select full overlay hinges
for the ends and half overlay hinges in the middle of a row of cabinets.
Inset Applications
Inset doors are recessed into the cabinet carcass to create a completely
flush, clean-lined look. |
|
Self-closing hinges are an ideal for cabinets. The built-in spring pulls the door closed and holds it in a closed position, eliminating the need for catches.
Soft-closing hinges have an adjustable action that, when your door is pushed closed, automatically takes over and brings your door to a whisper-soft close.
Free-swing hinges are most often used in furniture applications, rather than cabinet applications. |
|
| Use
the chart to determine how many hinges you'll need for the height and weight
of your door.
A door
that is 43'' high and weighs 14 lbs. requires three hinges. If your door
is only 24'' high but weighs 14 lbs., go with three hinges for maximum
support and stability.
Use
on 5/8'' - 3/4'' doors unless otherwise noted. |

Wow! These hinges fit perfectly onto my 14 year old bi-fold corner kitchen cabinet doors. I had to replace one of the original hinges as it had slowly come apart and had self destructed. I bought the set and replaced both hinges.
I'm probably a below average "handyman" at home, but I was impressed in both the quality of these hinges and how easy they were to intall. Better yet, my wife was very impressed with the final results.
Highly recommend.

A well-built hinge, and easy to install. But note should be taken that a gap is required between the folding doors. The illustration indicates that the hinge will allow the inside corners of the doors to very nearly meet when they are at 90 degrees to each other, but the hinge construction does not allow enough room for the doors to come that close together.

My Salice hinge on my cabinets busted, and was no longer available. This was an excellent replacement, and required relatively little work (two mortises and some pilot holes).
Quality product.

The bi-fold hinge was not easy to find until I found Rockler. The service was fast and the quality of the product is superb, very easy to use and instructions were also easy to understand. I am building kitchen cabinets for my home and will be needing many other items from Rockler.

After a year of looking at my daughter's "one door" corner cabinet, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I found Rockler on line and ordered the hinges that looked right. Following the instuctions, I had them in and working in about fifteen minutes, using a phillips screw driver and my drill to make new holes where needed. Also, shipping time was fantastic.

Perfect replacement hinge. Origional were cast zinc and easily cracked. Blum hinge steel construction makes it resistant to stress and downward torque.
