It did, indeed, make my knives sharp - about 12 in one sitting - and they were pretty bad to start with. But the guide is small, a bit awkward, and imprecise. I think I'd like to see at least a flat backing for the belt where it contacts the knife edge, so the angle is more precise. As it is, the guide produces a rounded, rather than a flat, bevel because of the flex of the belt where the knife meets it. It does take a bit more finesse to get the hang of the process than I expected, but it wasn't impossible to master. I agree with Fabian's review in his suspicion that the guide will wear out pretty quickly. Overall I am glad I got it, though I think it is a bit pricey for what it is.

I purchased this after purchasing the WS3000 a few weeks ago. I love the way the WS3000 sharpened my chisels and irons, so I figured this would be a no-brainer.
It did an excellent job on my knives. My wife was floored when I took the kitchen knives out to the garage, and then got them back in 15 minutes, sharp as can be. I also used a wide variety of knives for my work, and I sharpened those as well, even putting a double bevel on them, and I look forward to seeing how they hold up.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the actual knife blade guide. It is made of plastic, and after sharpening about 20 knives, it is showing some wear. I dont' know how they could improve on this, because if it was made of metal, that would dull the knife as you were sliding it against it.... Maybe I shouldn't push the blade edge into the "V" of the guide.
