Excellent saw. I'm a woodturner first, but the Fusion is fast becoming my favorite machine in the shop.

Delivery was great. The trailer with lift gate/pallet truck pulled the shipping crate right into my garage for storage until I had time to set it up in my basement shop. The lighter weight of the saw allowed me to move it to the basement BY MYSELF! I used an appliance truck with stair climbers and it wasn't easy, but it worked. I removed the table top first to reduce the weight.

Setup was straight forward, but I took my time with a dial indicator getting all of the alignments dead on. Front and rear rails bolt on in a snap and the rip fence was easy to adjust. Riving knife came installed in perfect alignment. Changing to the standard splitter takes a matter of seconds and requires no tools.

Prior to ordering the saw I contacted customer service with some questions. They informed me that a new model of the saw was available with several improvements over the previous model. First, the power switch is moved to the front rail. The hand wheels are now cast iron. The built in mobile base/rollers are changed from four wheels to two, and now moves like a wheel barrow by gripping the front and rear rails, which works great. Finally, the cabinet is painted black.

Other nice features: The trunnions are mounted to the frame like a cabinet saw, rather than a hybrid saw. There is an internal dust collection shroud around the blade with a hose to the 4” dust port. The push stick stores on top of the rip fence for easy access. The miter slots are T tracks rather than square.

Negatives: The assembly manual appears to be a little bit off. For example, there were no instructions for installing the power switch, but that was easy to figure out. There is no storage for the miter gauge and/or splitter when not in use. However, there is storage for the rip fence on the rear of the saw.

The operation of the saw is smooth smooth smooth. The saw sounds great running, a solid hum rather than a shrill screech like my last saw. The lighter weight of the saw does not affect the performance either, and there is virtually no table vibration. The 1 3/4 HP motor is more than enough power for my purposes. It will cut anything up to the saw’s 10” blade capacity, maybe at a slightly lower speed than a 2.5 or 3 HP, but that is no problem for me. My first project was a picture frame jig and picture frame. It was a great feeling when the miters came together with no gaps right off the saw. I think I’ll give the lathe a rest for a while and get to some furniture projects I’ve been looking forward too.

Ordered the 1.75 hp but received a call from Laguna and was offered the 2 hp version, 220v with 52" fence for same price. Took the offer and also received home delivery. Great saw, very accurate. Ordered a dado plate with the saw and what I received was a zero clearance plate that will not fit a 3/4" dado. Blade will hit the metal in the plate. Have made my own dado plates. Was told by Laguna that the dado plate they make is not designed for 3/4" dadoes. When I installed the 52" fence, they only sent half the number of bolts needed and shown in the instructions. Laguna told me to just go to the hardware store and pick some up. The fence rails were missing the end caps and Laguna has ordered those and am still waiting. Overall it is an excellent saw. Their QC on their shipping needs some improvement to ensure all the parts are provided. I am still surprised they do not make a dado plate to handle a 3/4" wide dado blade.

Update on my previous review. I received an email from Ben with Laguna Tools on 1-4-13, checking in to see how I liked the saw and if I received everything. I did receive everything that was back ordered and love the saw. It is dead on accurate and was not difficult to dial in or set up. I appreciate the fact that Ben followed up with me.

Love the saw. Very nice fit and function. Just what I expected from Laguna. However, I did not receive a Dado plate even though Rockler and Laguna both advertised that it came with the plate. I got a run around from Rockler and Laguna and have never received the plate. Not having a Dado plate really limits my ability to do what I want. I even bought my Dado blades from Rockler but no help!


Editor's note: When originally advertised on our site we mistakenly stated that a dado plate is included with this saw. It is NOT.  On-line copy has been corrected. Both Mr Edwards and Hank D did contact Rockler and the plates were provided at no charge because of our error.

I'm going to recind my other review ( below). Laguna took of the problem very well and they sent me a Dado throat plate. I just got off the phone with them. They did a follow-up call to see if I got the Dado throat plate. They also stated that if any other customers are missing parts they will take care of it. I have been using the saw almost everyday and am glad I made the decision to buy there product. The saw is awsome. I love this saw. I take my hat off to Laguna and will buy other products from when the need arises.

Is very good for the price. Does not come with dado throat plate as stated in all the ads. Notified the company and still waiting after 2 weeks for answer. Hope they get back to me.
