Man this was fun. It was quite challenging to get all the pieces in. I did feel it necessary to drill out the holes in the fretboard to allow the silver wire to go all the way in. I didn't put in the paper for the frets but the fretboard still looks good. Unlike one of the other reviewers, I didn't have any trouble with interactions between CA and epoxy. The biggest problem was finding really clear epoxy. I finally found a 5 minute epoxy double tube from a home center. I used 2 fillings, one to mostly fill the hole, and the second to get the level a bit above the wood so that there wouldn't be a dent. And there are a couple of small bubbles. Overall, it's a fun pen to put together, it looks great, and it'll be a great gift.

Sound hole epoxy and CA glue don't mix well. Contrary to instructions, in the future I will clear the holes for fret markers and bride prior to gluing them in on the pen. Wood tones are generally good for the guitar itself - but the background piece is somewhat darker than the store photo. Have all necessary material at hand because your assembly needs to proceed in a timely manner. DO NOT sand with water as the edges will stain. Nice results if thoughtful and careful. Precision cut.

This was my fourth laser inlay pen and by far the most complex. The instructions were hard to read, especially as I do not know guitar parts. Once I figured out where the silver wire went, that was smooth. The white plastic stick was too large for the designated holes. I would either enlarge them, or whittle down the white stick next time. I did not use epoxy glue to fill the sound hole as another review said that would smear it. I used medium CA, which kept running out, and I ended up filling it like 6 times, finally using tape to create a pocket above the height of the barrel so there wouldn't be a low spot in the middle of the sound hole. I had one small air bubble, but it is barely noticeable. The parts were not super tight, but a little ebony dust filled in nicely. Overall, having attempted one, I would be willing to try another. I would not recommend this as your first laser inlay kit. Looks super sweet when done.

I had a problem with the epoxy going soft on me but during the sanding process before I put on a CA glue finish. I suspect the epoxy softened from the heat of sanding even though I sanded lightly and didn't feel hot to the touch. Next time, I will fill the hole with CA glue instead of epoxy.

My girlfriend ordered this guitar pen blank earlier and it came with extra pieces if you know what I mean it was broken and I could not make it well enough to sell. So I had to order another one but the holes are too small and had to order a set of jewelers drill bits so I am now trying to finish this so I can sell it. It must be perfect.
