Overall I am very pleased with this product. I used it to square out a through mortise in 2" oak and it worked great. Beats buying a corner chisel or mortising machine. I agree with Rob that the tines can bend a little bit, but I haven't found it to inhibit its ability to mortise. It's just nice when they're really sharp you can poke them into the wood and seat them in a little bit before you pound away. My only complaint would be that I'd like to see these in other sizes. I could really use a 1/4" one. Instead I plan on using a normal chisel to square out my mortise.

I agree with the other reviews, but at the end of the day it is a fairly quick and easy way to add something new to my projects. At this price I give it four stars. If I had spent much more I might be a bit disappointed.

Had a job that required over 200 of these accents. The Accents themselves are fine. Look great and will work well. Used the tool and the tines were bent by the second plug going into red oak. Had to abandon the tool and move to a mortise machine, and even that didn't work very well. Getting the depth right with the way these accents are designed is extremely finicky. We had to mortise a square hole about a 1/16" deep and then clean the corners with a chisel before adding a dab of epoxy and pounding the accents home. For all the work required to install these "easy" accents, you might as well do the real thing.

These accents do look very nice, however the chisel does not hold up very well. My chisel began to bend after the fourth plug into some cherry wood. Also, the accent plugs do not stay in the wood no matter how much I pound them with a hammer. They remain loose and will have to be glued in place. The video demonstrating the use of this system shows a guy putting these plugs into what looks like a very soft piece of pine wood, not a hard wood. I will continue to use these accents but I am very disappointed with the quality of the chisel and the fact that I now have to glue the pieces into place. I will likely not buy any more of these accents.

Some instructions would be good. IE: do you glue pieces in p!ace or not, etc.
