I have several of these "cord holders". It is difficult to attach to a cord, but once on, works great. I can't keep a pencil within eye shot for more than 10 seconds. I now have pencils on all my machines thanks to magnets. For one purpose or the other, they work! I like them.

These do require a bit of work to install, but they work very well. My shop is a mobile shop, bandsaw, jointer, bench and planer are on mobile bases. I use these to keep the cords from falling on the floor and getting the cord or plug damaged. I used a twist and push approach method to install these and it worked without using heat. this keeps them from sliding around on the cord. They fit on all of my tool's power cords so I'm not sure what cords other people have that they won't fit. The magnets are strong and the protected cover doesn't cause and damage to the tools.

At first I was irritated that it didnt fit on any of my cords except for the 2 prong battery recharger. I even went so far as to fill out the return paperwork. Then while typing up a 2 star review I read the other reviews. George from GA nailed it right on the head, heat the Cord Keepers up. I used a heat gun for a few seconds and it did the trick. I guess it is a minor trade off to be able to hold a chuck key or a 10 gauge cord. It might seem like too much effort but once it is on the cord, I don't plan to move it... ever... so the Magnetic Cord Keeper gets a come from behind 5 stars.

Works as advertised. When the black rubber is cool it can be somewhat hard, making it difficult to insert the cord. Here's a tip: place the holder in front of a shop heater for a minute. Once it warms up, the rubber will become pliable and the cord will go in without any fuss.

I have a small shop and everything is on wheels. When I need to use a machine, I need to wheel it out, use it, and wheel it back. I thought the Cord Keeper would be great way to keep the cords off the ground away from potential damage while in transit. While they work great on small cords, they do not fit cords for my planer, jointer, drill press. etc. I use them on the cord to my bandsaw light, and to hold pencils at each machine. Great idea, just needs to be redesigned to fit shop cords, or come out with a larger model.
Editor's note: Cord is suppose to be tight when using this holder, and depending on the diameter of the cord may have to be twisted into place to be secured. The idea is for the holder to stay with the cord. It is also made with a 3/4" rare earth magnet installed for maximum strength to metal surfaces. Yes, it does hold most pencils and chuck keys also, but its primary design was for cords

I bought several of these to secure power cords for my table saw, band saw, jointer, etc. You just about need the strength of Hercules to get it onto a heavy duty cord. I was able to do so by pulling the edges of the plastic lips back while simultaneously pushing the magnet against the cord, but it was a huge struggle. Obviously, these were meant to remain on the cord. I wish I had seen the tip about heating the plastic up to soften it. The job would have been much easier that way. Once installed, though, these magnets work well. And I like the plastic coating on them that keeps from scratching metal surfaces. They do what they're intended to do.

The cords on large shop machines won't fit even though the package says they snap in. I used a flat edged screwdriver to pry open the hard rubber to get my router and table saw cords in. Initially tried to pry open with fingers, not a good idea, tore off part of my finger nail trying to force it into the holder. I now see the heat gun trick but for something made for woodworkers it should fit easier. Also the cords weight can be more than the magnets can hold unless you are on a smooth flat metal surface, not something painted or textured. I won't send them back but they have limited use.
