I have this set of chisels and I like them. As with most other chisels these chisels are not very sharp when you receive them. They fit in my hands very well so using them is a pleasure. I have not received any blisters yet so that is a plus for these chisels. Sharpening a chisel is not a chore that requires a college degree so sharpen the 3 chisels when you receive them and happy turning with your new tools. These chisels make super nice pens and gifts for your friends so you can get ready for the holidays.

 I recently purchased these turning tools on sale and was very disapointed. While they appeared to be of decent quality, the cutting edges were not very sharp and required that I sharpen them right out of the box. I would suggest you spend a little more money and buy a better set.

A Quick Note to All New Turners: LATHE TOOLS DO NOT COME PRE-SHARPENED! YOU, THE PURCHASER, WILL NEED TO GRIND THEM TO A SHAPE SUITABLE FOR YOUR OWN PURPOSES AND INTENDED USE PRIOR TO USING THEM, AND AFTER YOU DEFINE THE SHAPE YOU WANT YOU WILL NEED TO SHARPEN THE TOOLS! ALL LATHE TOOLS ARE MADE THIS WAY! You can buy a $100 Crown 5/8" bowl gouge and it isn't going to be even close to the shape necessary to turn a bowl, never mind sharp! They are sold this way for a reason. The factory has no clue how or what you turn. And because your grind will be dictated by your individual turning style and what you want to turn, the tools are shipped with only a BASIC SHAPE ground on them and it is 100% necessary for you to grind and sharpen them yourself.
