I have been very happy with this jig so far. I have created offset plates to shim it out so that it drills centered holes in .875 and 1.25 inch stock and all my joints have been dead on so far. Also a great purchase to go along with the jig is a pair of wide grip locking pliers. The locking pliers make it super easy to hold the jig in place. I needed longer bolts once I created my shims and they appear to be metric, possible M6x1 as I thought they were 1/4-20 but those didn't work. Overall I was really surprised at how easy it is to create doweled joints with this jig and I am looking to buy another one for my dad to use.

I bought the 3/8" version of this jig some time ago and used it for the first time today. I love the simplistic design. Used with my Kreg vise grip style clamp it would be extremely easy to use. Unfortunately, after drilling my second hole, I dropped it when I unclamped it and the plexi glass broke off at the base of the jig. If the "glass" portion were made of Lexan it would certainly be a 5 star product. On a good note, the holes I did drill were for the same dowel and the fit was perfect.

Nowhere in the description does it say this jig is set to center holes in 1/2" stock but it is. It says the holes are spaced 3/4" O.C., but that refers to the width between the holes, not to use in common 1x materials. I guess I'll try shimming the bore holes out to where I want them. The 1/4" holes for the drill bits to pass through seem unnecessarily sloppy and loose to me. Surely they could have been snugger than this without causing problems. I'm concerned about doweling a couple of things together only to find they mismatch by enough to be noticeable to the eye or touch. Otherwise, the heavy feel and tight construction definitely speak of quality, durability, and good intentions.
