I've been considering building plantation shutters for quite some time, mostly following the methods used by Norm on the New Yankee workshop. Seemed like a lot of trouble and work to make the jigs required. Then, I saw Rockler had developed all of the jigs and special hardware required. I was sold at first sight, and they did not let me down. Very straight forward and relatively easy. The online plan calculator is most helpful. My window frames were not square and I wanted to keep the shutters fully inset, so I made the stiles wider than on the plan, glued up the assembly, and then fit the plantation shutter assembly to the window by tapering the sides. I made my own louvers using the 2 1/2" louver bit. Worked great as well. These windows are 24" x 36" and worked great as prototypes since they are so small. I plan on fitting all of my bedroom windows with shutters, eventually, using these jigs.

After following the subject closely for some years of 45 woodworking, including Norm's video I had held off because of the louver and control rod obstacles, and was initially skeptical. I purchased a louver stick and hardware at Store 25 for under $25 to make a small prototype test before investing $120 in the kit and over $300 in hardwood. Best investment I ever made! your Installation Kit is an industry breakthrough. The CNC manufactured acrylic jig and its three respective bits are error proof in an inherently unforgiving process. Your louver stock makes it all feasible and economical for those without access to moulding machines or large jobs. In making the prototype I called Customer Service/Tech support and Rene's service was thoroughly knowledgeable and took all necessary time to answer product use questions. While I have opted for other methods for the control rod, I returned to store 25 and purchased the 3 1/2" Installation Kit and am starting on two 3' x 5' stain grade windows. Kudos to Store 25 for the on floor display and sales explanation.
