This is by far my favorite style of pen so far. I use one I turned from cocobolo at work and when I hand it to a customer to sign their reciept nearly everyone comments on how heavy it is. After you use it for a day or so you don't even notice the weight.

Made several of these, they make a great pen. Noticed one problem on the last one. When pressing in the coupler it distorted the treads such that the transmission would not screw on. I replaced the coupler, but I suggest that it would be a good precaution to take a small block of wood , drill an 11/32 hole in it, then use that over the coupler while pressing. That would take the pressure off the threaded portion.

I made 6 of them and they all had the same problem, everything seemed great until I put them together, the pens wouldn't engage, it wouldn't turn, it was like its too tight.

This kit makes for a very nice pen. Used hackberry and it is a beautiful pen. This is definitely a bigger, heavier pen. If you like a light thin to medium pen this kit will not work for you.
