This is one of my favorite pen sets. I prefer a heavier pen and this pen kit meets the requirements! All of the Manhattan kits are great but this one I turned a piece of canarywood and it looks awesome with this kit!

I bought 20 of the Manhattan kits some regular and some Elegant Manhatten. They looked nice and I have had good luck with other Rockler kits. This kit is junk. I had a rare blank of Dragon Eye wood given to me by a friend. I had ONE blank and could get no more. I chose the Manhatten to make two pens. Both cracked. The reason is not misalignment in the pen press. I am meticulous about alignment. The reason is incorrect sizing of the pen top where it joins to the tube. And the reason for the misalignment is equally easy to spot. They micrometered the fitting OK and then they plated it. They forgot that the plating added thickness. Now it doesn't fit. If you have something with some give you may not crack them but coat your blank with inflexible CA or do an Inlace Acrylester blank drilled snug... boom you will crack them. I now take the clip off, put the connector between some bushings and carefully sand off the plating. Sometimes I end up trashing a kit because I hit the visible part of the ring or top. Now I tape them to prevent sanding the ring. But I have lost a lot of $ messing with these.
