With its awesome power and suite of unique, user-friendly adjustments, the Triton TRA001 Dual-Mode Plunge Router more than deserves the praise it's been getting. Depth adjustments are a breeze with the unique ''winder handle'' - just squeeze the router's handle and turn to raise or lower, then use the micro-adjustment knob to dial in the final setting. You can also turn a dial to use the standard free-plunge adjustment. A turret system allows you to dial in two preset settings. Soft-start variable speed motor provides smooth, even power regardless of load. Bit changes are easy, one-wrench affairs - the spindle lock automatically engages when the spindle is extended past the faceplate - no more skinned knuckles juggling two wrenches inside the base. Whether in fixed mode or plunge mode, table-mounted or freehand, the Triton Dual-Mode Plunge Router will be a pleasure to use. It even includes a multi-function fence that serves as an edge guide, a circle cutter, and an oversized base.

This router is a beast! More than enougjh power to swing the large diameter cutters for cutting cabinate panels. The variable speed allows for the reduced RPM's needed for these tools without losing torque. The size of the unit makes it more suited for a router table than for hand held work, although, with practice, it becomes more comfortable.
The base does not accept standard bushings, so I'll need to find another base plate that is also thicker, since this one is rather flimsy. Overall a really nice, well designed router at a fair price.

I purchased the Triton 3 1/4 HP router from Rockler a few weeks ago. I bought it to replace the Porter Cable 891 that was in my router table, as the Triton has more power. I just recently mounted my new Triton in my router table using a Rockler router table plate that I had in my shop. It took awhile to figure out where to drill the mounting holes, but once done, it fit like a charm. Once mounted, I was amazed at how easy it is to change bits above the table. The height winder handle makes it really easy to raise and lower the router. I don't particularly like the cover over the power switch, which is a safety feature, since I already have a power switch mounted on the front of the table. You can't turn on the router when the router is raised for bit changes. After using it a few times, however, it isn't that much of a problem. I removed the dust collection shroud before mounting it in my table. By doing this I can use bigger bits, and my table already has dust collection above and below the table, so I didn't feel it was necessary. All in all, I would definitely recommend this router for use in a table. It has more power than I'll probably ever need.

I have used many routers over my 55+ years as a woodworker but this one is the best. It is every bit as good or better as my two 3 1/2 HP Craftsmans'. It can be mounted in a router table with your own method. Its best feature is the above the table bit changing. It is very powerful.

I just bought the TRA001. I was preparing to install the router in my table so I went to take out the plunge spring access cap. With the base of the router on my bench, I unscrewed the retaining screw for the access cap, twisted the cap and with significant force it violently shot up nearly striking me in the head. I was not wearing safety glasses at the time and had my face been a few inches forward I could have sustained a severe eye or face injury. I find no mention of a warning of this hazard on the router, in the instructional video, or even in the fine print of the Operating and Safety Instructions. Nor were there any instructions on how to perform this operation. I am seriously dissapointed in the lack of mechanical means to prevent such a hazard or even a simple warning. Please take caution when conducting this operation with this router.
