The light  works well. It isn't too bright that it is distracting, but bright enough to easily see your cut line. The arm does seem to stay put. The magnet is strong enough keep the light in place, even when the machine is on. But the mounting surface must be flat so the magnet makes full contact. If not, it will slide or move around. Keep that in mind prior to turning your machine on. It is small and compact This could work well in a lot of applications because it doubles as a small flashlight.
